The Interfit STR104 Strobies White Interior Softbox is part of the STR100 Strobies Portrait Kit. The 12 x 8" softbox will give a soft uniform light source and is ideal when combined with a reflector or other Strobies items. Using the softbox in iTTL or eTTL flash mode requires no adjustment to your exposure systems. An optional Flex Mount for your model of on-camera flash is required.

    STR104 Strobies White Interior Softbox (12 x 8") is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute Rubbish ..., I have no problem keeping the softbox on the flash (580EX II) and it was obvious to me that the box obscures the sensors. However, this box is absolute rubbish to assemble. They give you an extra rod, which is a good thing because I broke one trying to get it into place. It is nearly impossible to get the box straight on the flex mount, so you will be working with a box that is twisted 15 degrees or so unless you are lucky. My advice is if you get the silly thing assembled the way you want it, LEAVE IT ASSEMBLED! Buy an extra flex mount just for this soft box. You really don't want to be assembling and disassembling this box.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from just terrible First, let me start off by saying that I usually love Interfit products, especially the Strobies line. I accidentally purchased this softbox instead of the 16 version. Deciding to make the best of my blunder, I tried to use this product anyway. The construction is flimsy and awkward. The softbox is supported by rods that are difficult to assemble, and you need to purchase an additional flex mount to attach the softbox to your flash. In the end, the light diffusion isn't nearly worth the hassle of assembly. Look to other products in the Strobies line for easy and portable flash diffusers.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Something's wrong here I might have given this one-two more stars except the darn thing is difficult to assemble. Interfit supplies one extra rod but you need many more. Two of them snapped while assembling for the first time. Now I have two nice back-stratches and no softbox. The black and white panel hangs on the flash head like a *.If their flash head adapter fits your flash, do yourself an immense favor and buy two adapters so you don't have to take the softbox apart each time (assuming you can assemble it the first time).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing usage experience Purchased for candid portraits. Poor design of associated Flex Mount attachment to strobe. Manufacturer testing should have halted this product's release as designed. Softbox/flex mount combo refuses to stay attached to Canon EX580 strobe, even after employing the wide rubber band supplied with, and which makes a Gary Fong Whale Tail stick like glue. Falls off with every change of my flash bracket between landscape & portrait, and often during shots. Softbox stays secured to the flex mount, but the combined mass is simply too much to accommodate normal movement during typical use. Softbox blocks the flash's infrared focus assist beam, so my Canon 5D MkII will often struggle to focus in moderately low light circumstances with this device attached (An obvious shortcoming that I should have recognized prior to purchase). When its stays on, and if you can achieve focus, it does soften shadows as one might expect for a very small softbox, and seemingly more so than the half dozen other strobe mounted light softeners that I own. However, I gave up on it before shooting enough to make that call with certainty. Homemade attachment refinements might allow the device to be used, but forget any benefit from the strobe's focus assist light.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointed I will echo everything the previous reviewer said. The unit simply would not stay on the flash during normal use. Even just moving the camera around was enough to loosen the Flex Mount and therefore rendering the entire apparatus unusable. It also shows up in the top of the frame on anything wider than about 40 mm on my 17-85 zoom. I will keep it to use it on stationary off-camera strobes, but will switch to another system for on-camera use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What I hoped for I had read a few reviews before buying the 12x8 softbox and am very happy with my purchase. The first time I assembled it things went a little slow, but each time since it has been a breeze (hint, start with the end in the soft box not the end in the flex mount. It softens the light very well. I am quite happy with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from STR104 Strobies with softbox I used my STR104 Strobe for a desert photo shoot. It's light weight and portable, very easy to manuever around. The light may not be as strong as a large strobe, but just as good if you bring your subject closer. Makes a great second strobe for backlighting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than I expected Ok, it was a bit tricky to assemble... and I will probably leave it that way. BUT, good quality and great results. Total cost for mount (yes it would be a good Idea to have a dedicated mount for just the softbox) and soft box is les than $30, well worth it.
