question
Is this microphone compatible with a Sony a7 camera?
I would think it would not work. It requires phantom power (see specs).

Is there any meaningful difference between this ...
Is there any meaningful difference between this microphone and the ECM-VG1 besides the size?
Yes, the Sony ECM-673 Short Shotgun Microphone has a higher level of sensitivity and slightly lower self-noise level than the Sony ECM-VG1 Short Shotgun Microphone. While the ECM-VG1 is longer in length at 8.3", it is also much lighter, weighing just 2.3 oz, compared to the ECM-673 which is 7.9" long and weighs 4.8 oz. Additionally, the ECM-673 is also built with a vibration-resistant mechanism and comes with a foam windscreen. The ECM-VG1 comes with a furry windshield.

question
Does it come with a short xlr cable for camcorder use? I does not seem so, since nothing is said about it in in the box section. But I have seen in other stores - including Sony - that it comes with it. Thanks for your help!
This mic does come with a short XLR cable for on camera use, a mount for mic stands, a round spacer and a sheet spacer
