I absolutely love this softbox -- It's super quick and easy to assemble and creates beautiful catchlights in the eyes.

Easy to use, does as advertised. There are probably sturdier units out there, but not as light or straightforward.

Not what it claims!

The softbox is easy to set up and use but its not 45" at its widest point. Only 40" BH representative explained to me that all manufactures measure differently the size of the modifier and they don't share how its done. My experience with umbrella based modifiers is they generally are close to advertised size. I was looking for a minimum 45" modifier and this one was off quite a bit. I wouldn't recommend this modifier because of the discrepancy.

Thank God I signed up for email from B & H, then saw add for this. It was the answer to a prayer for a softbox that opened like an umbrella & fit the strobe lights I already have. It is WONDERFUL!! I went ahead and ordered the 2nd one. No more fighting with the stupid wires of my old softboxes. This softbox is the way to go & sets up in minutes.

Nice portable softbox producing great diffused light. Overpriced for what it is though which is why one star deducted.

I love it.

I was in a very tight spot and the Halo Mono Round was a life saver.

Nice diffusion

Used a pair of these for portraits and group shots with good results.  For groups they fill the space nicely with a bit more light in the center but very diffuse in all directions.  I like it better than umbrellas for that reason and quicker and more portable than a soft box.

Great Diffuser!

All in all I used this diffuser for the first time on a shoot and it was flawless. Gave great light diffusion with the perfect color balance

question

I was intending to use two 45 silver parabolic umbrellas with two 600 EX RT Speedlites to light groups of four to ten people indoors. If I use two of these 45 softboxes with one 600 EX RT Speedlite inside each one, will they be a better option? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Asked by: Bernard E
You could use a Halo Mono Softbox on each of the 600EX RT flash and still have enough coverage for a group of 4-10 people. Using the parabolic umbrellas would add more contrast with specular highlights.

How would you compare the quality and concentration of the light as compared to the Photek SoftLighter umbrella series?
Asked by: marcie
The quality of light is extremely soft and emulates that of a shoot through umbrella (minus the light loss). The Halo is more forgiving than the Photek version due to its wider spread of light.

How does the halo work with the rotolight neo 2?
Asked by: christopher
To use this Westcott Halo Mono with the Rotolight Neo 2, you would need to put the light on the Impact Deluxe Umbrella Mount with Adjustable Shoe B&H # IMDUBAS, which has a cold shoe mount and an umbrella slot, so everything can mount on a light stand. https://bhpho.to/2UiVUUq.

What is the difference between Halo Mono and Halo?
Asked by: Michael
The Halo Mono is specifically for monolight strobes, where one might need easier access to the control panel. The standard Halo is for flash heads which use a power pack or speedlights, so it would full enclose those types of units.

How is this different in output to a basic Umbrella Softbox of the same size? For example the Phottix 40" Shoot Through PH85380?
Asked by: Alam
There is no light lost, which is common in shoot through umbrellas. The reflected light stays within the modifier for higher output.
