Wein PS500-2E reviews

PS500-2E Pro-Sync 2-Channel System is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overall decent product but a few issues I've had this for a few years and overall like it. It'sfairly compact and works with my flash bracket. A tallerunit like the pocket wizard might interfere with some flashbrackets. One thing to keep in mind is that if you are using multipleremote flashes you have to use a separate receiver for eachremote flash or wire the remotes together. You cannotreliably trigger one remote flash with the encoded infraredsignal and then have that flash trigger other flashes viatraditional slave. If your remote flash is a power pack andcable system that isn't an issue but if you're using monolights consider the extra expense of receivers or useguitar or headphone wires to connect the other remoteflashes together. Expertise: Pro Problems Encountered: No problems Previous Equivalent Item Owned: Various wein slaves

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great upgrade on the open IR system I have been using the Wein open channel infra red system for nearly 12 years and it has been tough and reliable, I can't say enough good things about it. Working in cities I have recently been finding it getting badly affected by infra red networks in office buildings and other inrfa red devices. In that time I have had one receiver lose sensitivity and a Junior IR trigger behave erratically - after some very rough treatment. The main trigger never gave problems and was even rebuilt in the field after being dropped from a great height on one occasion and gave years of use afterwards. I have tried an elinchrom skyport which is great , but needs constant charging and specialist batteries, and seems to go flat easily - and if the receiver goes flat then its back to a cable or backup for the rest of the shoot as you can't just swap out batteries. Its also very fiddly when my attention needs to be elsewhere. I thought about a pocket wizard but really this seemed a better option as the wein units work over the same sort of distances. So far so good. Tough , not affected by external influences and works with my older open channel receivers as well so its a great upgrade
