Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM Overview

Covering a flexible ultra-wide range, the Pentax K-mount 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM from Sigma is a versatile zoom well-suited for landscape, architectural, and interior photography. The lens's optical design incorporates a series of low dispersion and aspherical elements, which help to reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations throughout the zoom range, as well as contribute to improved sharpness and clarity. Wide-angle zoom is designed for APS-C-format Pentax K-mount cameras and provides a 15-30mm equivalent focal length range.
Constant f/3.5 maximum aperture is suitable for working in available light conditions.
Two Extra-Low Dispersion (ELD) elements and one Special Low Dispersion (SLD) element are featured in the optical design, and help to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for improved clarity and color accuracy.
Four aspherical elements are used to help limit distortion and spherical aberrations and also contribute to greater overall sharpness and accurate rendering.
Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to individual elements to minimize flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions.
Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM), along with an internal focusing design, realizes quick and quiet autofocus performance as well as full-time manual focus override.
Minimum focusing distance of 9.4" is available throughout the zoom range.
Seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

will this work with d40x?
Asked by: Jodi
The short answer should be, Yes. Until the new Z series Nikon has not changed their bayonet lens mount. While all the new lenses have all kinds of electronics in them you should be able to put a Nikon lens from the 1940's on your camera. On your D40x it may or may not use all the electronic connections the lens has but zoom, focus and aperture should work fine.

Will this fit a canon eos r without vignetting around edges?
Asked by: Jason B.
Yes. You will need the EF/EF-S to EOS-R adapter. Then set the camera to 1.6 crop and it will be like using it on a APS-C sensor camera. See page 80-81 in the EOS-r manual on this B&H page: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1433710-REG/canon_eos_r_mirrorless_digital.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

The 10mm the Daniel recommended is good but if you want a zoom for more versatility, this Tokina 11-20mm f2.8 is better than the Sigma: https://bhpho.to/38Zk5hA

This lenses covers and APS-C sized sensor. You can use it with an EF adapter, but you will need to set the EOS R camera to a cropped sensor mode.

CAN I USE THIS WITH SIGMA FP FOR MILKY WAY SHOT ?
Asked by: Chul Ho
The Sigma FP uses L series lenses, Sigma SA mount lenses are a different mount. You can get an EF mount version and then use a lens adapter. Click the links below to view; https://bhpho.to/2NQeS3X https://bhpho.to/2RhFsoz and yes, it would work well for Astrophotography.
