    Pentax 50-200mm f/4.0-5.6 reviews

SMC Pentax DA 50-200mm f/4-5.6 ED WR Zoom Lens is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 41.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works very nicely This lens works very nicely when shooting wildlife with a Pentax K-50. I am amazed how well very tightly cropped photos hold up with this combination. Autofocus is sometimes an issue in some situations for me, but I am able to switch easily to manual focus to get the shot. I normally shoot RAW+jpeg. One of my sample images is the jpeg file straight from the Pentax K-50. The second image was processed and cropped from the RAW file in DxO OpticsPro 10.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good field lens at a bargain price. Due ti its compact size, light weight, weather resistance and better than average optical quality, this lens is a really good choice for all general field applications. From family outings to grand landscapes; install this lens and leave it on. Quick, quiet focus and easy zoom allow for great candids and while the 4-5.6 apature limits indoor use, this range isn't an indoor fit anyway. Great compliment to the 18-55 giving 95% of us everything we need.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Versatile lens I shoot from a wheel chair in most weaher and appreciate weather sealing. Zoom range allows goo0 panoramas and close shots. Not a macro, but very good when the subject is further from shooting position than desired. Great detail in jpeg and RAW, but will show purple fringe if pushed too far in procesing RAW. This is easily removed before final printing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All Wet For me it is the perfect set up on my GX10 or K30. In the Duck blind, Goose pit,ski slopes or lake Powell it's perfect for me. Small ,Light ,accurate and smooth zoom for getting my wildlife, snow and water skiing shots. The zoom works great for getting pics at family events as they are more natural when they don't know there picture is being taken. The price is right also. I won't be crying when the lens finally succoms to the harsh enviroments it will be expposed to.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Until I upgrade I picked up this lens before I decided on which Pentax K-5iis or K-3 I was going to purchase.Weather Resistant, light weight and a zoom was a few of the main reasons. So far it's decent walk-around lens, I will be picking up either the Pentax 18-135mm or f/2.8 by Sigma or Tamron in a few weeks. The photographs are sharp in daylight,in low light it will search a few seconds but will focus quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Pentax Quality I have been shooting pictures with Pentax cameras since 1970's. This lens exemplifies what Pentax lenes are all about, clear precise pictures, durable and versatile. I take a wide range of pictures from events to nature, people. The Pentax lens and equipment excel in every area. If your looking for a non-professional type lens, look no further. Joe Busch, NY

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product for the Price When I was looking to buy a telephoto I wanted something with a fair price and this was definitely it. I have used this for different sports I cover and some close-ups of animal wildlife. I have been impressed with this lens so far and will keep using it.
