The Vivitar 2x 4-Elements Teleconverter for Canon cameras is a precision optical component designed to expand your photographic capabilities. This premium quality 2x teleconverter, effectively doubles the focal length of the lens it's used with and maintains the resolution and contrast of any fine optic. The 2x teleconverter extender will multiply the focal length of the existing lens by 2x, and will cut back the amount of light by 2 f/stops. For example, using a 2x teleconverter with a 300mm lens will effectively increase the focal length to 600mm. A lens set to f/2.8 will now be f/5.6. Autofocus is not always maintained when using a teleconverter especially with slower lenses at apertures above f/4.

This adapter fits EF mount lenses only, it is not compatible with EFS lenses.

Series 1 Teleconverter For Canon is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good for the price The application of this product is limited, but it does produce a sharp image when used in very well lit scenarios, such as outdoors during daylight. The Canon teleconverter works with EF-compatible lenses, but not EF-S lenses. Most applications of this teleconverter will require manual focusing, so I do not plan to use this with fast moving wildlife. It does very well with stationary shots of flora that you want to get closer to, but cannot, such as a specific segment of a tree, but the time spent focusing may cause you to miss the perfectly timed shot of a bird in flight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Doubles my lens...Doubles my fun The Series 1 Teleconverter for Canon by Vivitar is a necessity when I'm shooting auto and cycle races at Barber Motorsports Park. Getting close up shots of cars and motor cycles going around the track as high speeds is a must and the converter helps me get in their close that I can see the thrill in their eyes. The drivers can't refuse the pictures when they see themselves in action.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vivitar 2X converter for Canon I do not normally review equipment, But this is rather special in that it is in my opinion much better than the Canon alternative. The Canon 2X converter will not autofocus with the 70-200 f4.0 zoom lens or any lens slower that f2.8 - a design feature (design flaw if you ask me). The Vivitar will autofocus (albeit rather slowly) and has good sharpness, colour and contrast (less good than the lens in use). A competent piece of kit well worth the money much cheaper than the Canon equivalent and not available in the UK.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Solid construction, not so great photos 2x converter is built solidly. Autofocus does not work with this teleconverter. We have tried all our EF lenses and with each we had to go to Manual mode. All the photos we have taken so far have come out grainy. Works but not that great...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from NOT COMPATIBLE WITH EFS LENSES I never got to use this teleconverter because it is not compatible with EF-S Lenses. So I cannot rate the quality of this. There is truly not enough information on the difference between an EF lense and EFS(with stabilizer).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well made. Good glass Use this with my Canon T5i kit lenses for nightscape shots and astrophotography. Works great. Glass is just fine. Effectively doubles my fixed lens collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do what promises This kind of converter allowed to reach distances that my common lenses wont get. Considering the price of a lenses of 100mm and above with low F stops, this product, allied with a common 50mm lenses, its a very useful kit and for a low price.
