question

My heart's broken that this recorder is discontinued. What's a good similar model currently available?

My heart is ALSO broken that this recorder is discontinued. I would love to buy another one. In my opinion, there's no replacement. If you hunt one down, buy it instantly.

question

I am puzzled why B&H included the Izotope RX Plug-In Pack with my PCM-M10 recorder. The plug-in pack does not seem to work with the Sound Forge 9.0 software included with the recorder. Newer software that costs $$$ seems to be required. Or am I missing something here?
Asked by: Andrew C.
The Izotope RX Plug-In Pack was offered with the recorder as a cross promotion between the manufacturers as a bonus item. Unfortunately not specifically paired with the software included with the recorder at the time. It is correct the plug ins will not run with the currently bundled recording software, however there are several free programs available that will support the plug in format such as Audacity, http://bit.ly/1KeEwKd or Avid Pro Tools First, http://bit.ly/1xIAEox

question

what kind of case would work well for this recorder?
Asked by: Anonymous
For me it's been more useful a simple bag for my recorder, made o towel or soft fabric or similar with a cord to close it and hang. I have not seen an appropiate case.

question

Using a mic, can I record vocals over karaoke CDs?
Asked by: Anonymous
I am very sorry but I only use my PCM-M10 to record Bird calls. I'm not into doing what you ask. This unit is really what I wanted and does the best job. I am very satisfied with it. Wildlife Photography / Michael L. Smith

question

I have this recorder and find that it records out of synch - dramatically - with video recorded by a Fuji X100. Any guess as to why or how to fix? Thank you.
Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately each recording device operates from its own internal clock, the rate of recording will vary between devices. Without clock sync functionality it would be impossible for the devices to record in sync. This is a common issue and when recording audio and video separately. Manual adjustment is often needed via software.

question

Will this recorder record and playback when connected to a USB power source (i.e. a car charger)?
Asked by: Andrew C.
I believe it will not. However, it can run on 2 AA batteries for a surprisingly long time (dozens of hours), so there is really no need for an alternative power source. If you are going on a trip, just have spare batteries. It will work on Li ion rechargeable batteries, too, but not for so long.
