    Bower SFD35 reviews

SFD35 Digital Flash for Sony/Minolta Cameras is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Worth its cost I compare this flash to my old Vivitar Thyristor Flash from the analog film era. I must admit that I was expecting a little more quality but the flash does work. It just seems a litlle weak and delicate. But looking at the price and comparing it to the other higher value brands it seems reasonable. Also need to consider this is usually a second step flash as all cameras now have a built in flash for everyday usage. So if you want quality buy something else. If you want value for money go for this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the money! This flash was reasonably priced and does a fine job for close ups and portraits.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for Sony SLT-A33/55 cameras First and foremost this will NOT work on Sony Alpha SLT-A33/55 cameras. Period.Given I own an A33, I can't comment on the performance of the unit, just initial impressions. Wasn't expecting much, just a quick replacement for my broken Sony unit (RIP, I'll miss you) until I can afford another. But.. this unit can be summed up in one word. Cheap. All senses of the word apply here.Only 1 detent on the pivot head worked, the rest was a grinding feeling at best. The zoom head rattled and none of the detents registered anything at all. The shoe mount was very tight, to the point of worry; if your hand slips attaching it say bye-bye shoe rails.Maybe the performance will allow others on a budget to use it, but seriously, as long as they're available, get the Sunpak PZ40X. multiple mountains of difference between the two in quality and features.I returned this and went with the Sunpak, and man is it like night and day.If you have a Sony Alpha, forget this and get the PZ40X (or PZ42X) and you will be much happier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Value Flash Does the job This flash is light duty flash that plugs directly into the whole line of Sony Alpha DLSR without any adapters or converters. It is not a high quality solid flash, but more of consumer product. Head rotate, tilt and zoom are standard which makes this a decent flash for close quarters shooting. Add a bunch of reflectors and it is reasonably good for product shots if you bounce the flash from a few reflectors. Build quality is a little flimsy but the bottom line is the flash is $ not $450 or $550. Are there better flashes out there? Yes. Do you really want to pour more money into Sony's stupid non-standard flash mount? No. Would it be great if the flash had a charger and battery pack? Yes, Do I like pumping AA batteries into this thing every 2 hours? No, But, If you are looking to make your Alpha setup last a bit longer without spending a fortune this flash will work. And for $ you really can't complain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great buy @ a great price All I could find locally was a flash direct from Sony at double the price. The sales dept also gave me a new flash tip that I had never heard before. Got a very good product, a very good price and a photo lesson. Could not ask for more
