Tamron SP 60mm f/2 Di II Macro Reviews
Exactly what I wanted

I'm an elderly amateur photographer that was looking for something new. The B&H sale price made this an easy decision. The past two weeks have been my break in photographing flowers from the local supermarket. I am thrilled with the results of how easy the lens makes macro photography. For a f 2 lens I do not find the size or weight a problem. The dedicated lens certainly makes macro photography easier. YouTube's videos on macro photography have been very helpful for a beginner like me
Manual focus play

I shoot a lot of macros from a tripod with studio lighting. The focusing ring has a very noticeable play/slop. Because of that, it was extremely frustrating/difficult to get focus precisely in the manual mode. Tamron claims this play is normal.

question
Seems like the Tamron SP90 Macro gets better reviews than the 60mm Macro. Which would work better on my Sony A55 SLT A55V?
It really depends on what you want to use the macro for. I have a 100mm macro (for Sony APS-C) and I find the distance to subject difficult to manage unless you are simply using it as a prime lens. Hence, this may be a good choice even if the lens is an older lens.
