question

What is the longest lens you can put on this tripod? E.g. Gitzo recommends max 400mm for its GT3542L, even tho' its load capacity is 46.3 lbs. So, I'm assuming I can't mount a 150-600mm on this Induro.
Asked by: Hannah
You should have no problem at all mounting that lens. My Induro tripod supports a three way pan head which holds a fairly heavy 4 x 5 view camera with heavy lenses and film holders. The 8X CT-214 is a very sturdy tripod.

Hi again, Jessica. I just did a search on the B&H website and found lots of tripod bag options. You would just have to check the specs to find the right one. Good luck!

question

Can you shoot without the centre column? I shoot landscapes and I'd like to get the trip as close to the ground as possible sometimes. Can the camera be mounted without the centre column?
Asked by: Jason F.
No, you cannot shoot without the center column. However, the center column is reversible so you can remove it and reinstall upside down, spread the legs and you're very close to the ground. The camera will be upside down with a horizontal shot, but with a ball joint or 3 way panhead, you can take vertical photos normally.

Since the Induro CT214 has both 1/4 and 3/8 threads, yes, the Manfrotto 496RC2 ball head will fit on this tripod.
