    IOGEAR GCS1104 reviews

GCS1104 4-Port USB DVI KVMP Switch with Audio and Cables is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile, Feature Rich KVM Device This KVM is used to control 3 PCs and 1 MAC. Setup was easy using the manual, which was detailed. The most amazing (and unexpected) feature is the ability to switch the KVM to one source and have the audio play out of another. On the multiple monitor setup we have we can watch and listen to TV or music one one PC and work on any of the other 3. The keyboard shortcuts that allow this took a day or two to remember but now are instinctive. We are very pleased with this KVM, which is an upgrade to an older rack mount PS2 type switch. The lighted control buttons on the front panel indicating what has been selected is a plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I'd been wanting this for years, once I finally installed it. I don't even notice it. But it saves me tons of time and from ruining my connectors from switching between computers. The only draw back I've found is, there's no software to help you customize the programing. This only applies to advanced users. The product works great. But to change settings there are keystrokes to enable certain features. I was hoping for a little program that just had check boxes to let you select how buttons switched, or be able to change the keystrokes to switch computers from the keyboard. Now you have to change the settings by confusing and non-memorizable 3-5 button keystrokes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Notch I have three computers which I run though the switch. This is the second switch I have bought as the first one eventually went bad, but it has worked so well and is considerably less expensive than newer models that I wouldn't go to another model or manufacturer. I will point out one characteristic, however, if you have a wireless keyboard/mouse (I have a Logitech 5500) you can not run it through USB port on the switch. You must connect it directly to your computer. For my older computers I bought a simple USB extension cable to bring the port to the front of the machine. This device works really well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bang for your buck. This IOGEAR series of 2 port and 4 port KVMs have the best features for the lowest price in this range. The most impressive thing is that they spoof the usb and EDIDs from the output to every input. Meaning that when you switch between channels the other inputs do not 'lose the connection' to the switch. Only wish is that they came in a rackmount form.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Answered most of my prayers So I use a USB razer mouse and logitech G15 keyboard. I have 2 Macs and a PC and wanted share the monitor and keyboard with them all. Finding something reliable is a challenge for certain. I picked this one based on other reviews and I am glad that I did. I ran into to a quirk, however. When I use the mouse & keyboard ports correctly, the razer and logitech software don't see the usb devices as belonging to them. This can be fixed by plugging them directly into the shared USB ports. However, doing that will prevent the use of the keyboard to command the switch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy, Works Very Well Switches computers fairly fast, including auxiliary USB. No obvious snags. I use a Macintosh keyboard and everything works as expected except the eject key, which is not important to me. Switching among Mac, Windows and Linux without a hitch. Solidly built and heavy. Both front and rear aux USB, which is nice. Also, if you turn off or suspend a computer it will automatically seek out the next one that's running (or do nothing if that was the last one closed). Can configure and operate from a wired Mac keyboard also (I don't have any Bluetooth and there are warnings regarding that approach). I was, however, not able to get it to work with VGA using any of the adapters I have. Don't count on mixing VGA and DVI therefore.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well so far I am using this KVM to share my 24 ASUS Proart monitor, keyboard and mouse with my work laptop (Dell), an old HP Laptop and a Macbook Pro. Everything works as expected. As other reviewers have noted, my Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse had to use the front shared USB port. I got tired of not being able to use the keyboard short cuts to enable partial switching, so I ended up switching out my nice keyboard for an older wired version. This product should support the wireless keyboard and mice that dominate the market and that is why it didn't receive five stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Satisfied I have had this switch for a little over a month, and so far so good. I would give it 5 stars, but there are a couple of things that I think they could have done better. One the cables could be longer, and two the video cable could have been a DVI-I to accomodate those that still have a PC with VGA output. I think the switch is made well, and so far works with my PC, Mac, and Laptop docking station without issue.
