    Hoodman HLCKIT reviews

Cinema Kit HoodLoupe 3.0 LCD Screen Loupe for 3" Displays is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK if modified The rubber bands that hold the loupe are fragile and easily break as happened twice to me.They don't hold the loupe very well either. However, by adding thin strips of velcro around the canon 7d LCD and also to the lips of the loupe, it works well and goes on and off a lot easier than with the rubber bands. The problem is that whether using the bands or velcro, the loupe is difficult to store once you revert to photo mode as opposed to video mode but this is a relatively minor effort.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Camera Hoodie In Australia we are blessed with a lot of bright sunshine but this can be a hindrance when shooting video with the Canon 7D as it uses the LCD as the view finder. The HoodLoupe eliminates reflections on the screen and so allows for more accurate framing and focusing. The straps holding the Loupe in place are very fiddly to apply, especially single handedly and are barely tolerable when in use. For spectacle wearers both of the supplied eye cups cause the image to vignette as the eye moves physically further away from the Loupe lens. With all its compromises the HoodLoupe is still a useful accessory to the camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A necessity for HD-DSLRs At a bare minimum when you shoot vid with today's HD-DSLRs, you need to keep your eye on the display. For the money, this is the one! The Z company will charge you more than $300 to 400 for their slightly better and much larger loupe, but do you reall need it if you also shoot stills or don't run a rail system? IMO, you don't. For portability, this is the way to go. Simply add a good mic, and you're on the way to having the right stuff to do an adequate job in video capture. The only negative are the rubber bands. They are a bit funky. A crane mounting system is is the works and should be out later this spring and some have come up with other solutions for mounting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tool! I was very reluctant to spend so much money on something that should be cheaper, but I am glad I did. I like to do closeups of flowers and insects and this is an invaluable tool when used with live view and manual focus. Seeing the image on the already high quality LCD screen is much bigger and better than viewing it through the view finder. It has a good diopter for those of us wearing or not wearing glasses. If you buy this, be sure to also buy the 3X eyepiece for another $39. It adds to the already high price, but it makes the tool much better with german optics and all. Only drawback is that this tool does not fit very well in the provided case with either of the eyecups attached.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubber snapped the very first time What a joke. The loupe part is pretty nice, but the rubber bands snapped the first time I tried to put them on my camera. No, I did not stretch them too far. The spring clip ate right through them, is what happened. The materials used were not up to the task. What a complete waste of my time and money. Thanks for nothing, HoodMan.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very Good for some purpose, not for all I don't really like this product. I bought it to use it with my 5Dmk2, to do some movie-stuff. But because you just attach it to the camera with some straps, it doesn't stay in its position, so you don't se the whole screen all the time. Something with a frame, that sticks to the camera would be better. Still, if you just use it, to check you screen when you're shooting outside, it's great! I bought the Kit, so it comes with a magnifier, the straps, a lanyard and another eye-pice, which, i think is pretty good!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Must for Out Door Video Shooting I am using the hoodloupe on a Canon T2i to assit in video production. It is a must for shooting video outside. In addition to using it for outside video it alleviates eyestrain when shooting prolonged video. I purchased originally with the stretchy bands to hold the hoodloupe on, purchased the hoodcranelater, it works better and just looks cooler. It assisted us in the shooting of our video web-series you can see the footage of the series at Official Trailer- A Cure For Dead Surviving The Zombie Apocalypse | @

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a perfect solution but helpful The hoodman is a definate help when doing fusion video work. I bought the accessory straps, but they aren't the best solution. To attach them you either need to have a detachable camera strap or no strap. It's not a quick process to attach or remove the hoodman with the straps. It may be best to simply hold it against the LCD instead or use some adhesive strips around the edges if you need to keep it attached. I'm still working on the best attachment options that allow for quick attachment and removal.
