  • 1/4"-20 Camera Screw
  • 1/4"-20 to 3/8"-16 Bushing
The Arca-Swiss Monoball P0 Tripod Head with Panning System is a unique knobless tripod head featuring a design that abandons traditional locking knobs and replaces them with a three-element geared locking system. This system allows the head to be positioned at any angle. The Monoball P0 locking elements apply a uniform force around the ball, ensuring smooth camera movements along any axis. When the camera is placed directly on the ball and not on its neck, the movements are as stable as if they were on a rubber ring. The aspherical ball also prevents sudden camera movements. The panning system is located just below the camera mount, providing a panoramic rotation that remains in line with the vertical. The Monoball P0 has a tilt ball range of 90° and has 360° panning. It weighs only 9.9 oz (280.66 g) and will support equipment up to 44.1 lb (20 kg).

Arca-Swiss Monoball p0 Reviews

Compact, light, and strong

The action is not the smoothest but works well enough. It is very light and compact but more than strong enough to hold a D3s with a 300/4 on and a Z7ii with the 50/1.2 with the body mounted on the head. I think it will work well on a monopod as well. It does need an arca Swiss mount on it. I tried to save weight by using the 1/4" mount directly and it is very clumsy.

Easy to use with gloves

The ideal head for small-scale macro photography.

I tend to shoot small objects indoors, so purchasing this head worked out well for me. First of all, the change in the field of view by gear operation is small. Secondly, the head itself is small and simple to operate. If you're using a mirrorless camera or DSLR, this head is rigid enough. I didn't test it on a large format camera. The feel of the operation is very good. The exterior design is also solid and beautiful. I can confidently recommend it. The good points stand out, but there are also a few complaints... - The Arca-Swiss unique mount (Fix) makes it difficult to set the camera. (It seems to be solved by making a simple spacer by yourself.) - I also want a pan gear. - The gears are too solid and my fingers hurt.

Great tripod head!

This is a great tripod head. I've used this head since November of 2018. I used the Arca Swiss d4 head before this. Both of my heads have the classic Quick Release. The p0 is easier to use than the d4. When the d4 is first set up, both of the knobs must be loosened for general positioning. With the p0, one simple loosing of the the ball head is all that's needed. Then, fine movements are made using the geared knobs, similar to the d4. The ball head and fine geared movements are all secure. The Arc Swiss d4 is a great head too, I just like this one better. Either head is a must for any landscape photographer.

Does not live up to the hype

Bought a new copy that seem like it was previously used given some scratches on the mounting surface. The ring was very loose and looked like it was going to fall off but seems like that's normal for this ball head from some other reviews. It was also heavier than I expected when a high quality clamp was mounted on top of it (was planning on using a novoflex one). Overall, nothing wrong with this ball head but I don't think it's as good as people claim and not worth the asking price. I think some other options such as a ball head with a panning clamp can do just as well or better. Ended up going with adding a leveling base to my tripod but also considered a panning clamp as an alternative option.

A GREAT BALL HEAD!

The first actual Arca-Swiss ball head I bought was the p0.  While it is a great little head, it was lacking something.  After a lot of thought I bit the bullet and got the p0 Hybrid.  What a difference!  The gearing works perfectly.   That made me happy enough.  But, that was not all.  I found out that when you loosen the entire head with the large ring, there is still tension.  If you are using a Fuji mirrorless camera with most lenses you can move the camera but it does not move on it’s own.  I would think the aspheric head contributes to this.  In any event, clearly the best ball head I’ve ever had.

Works great.

Works great. The ring to lock the ball is very secure in any position and easy to manipulate on a dark night. No confusion with which knob am I tightening. Used with an R5 and 70-200mm lens with no problems.

I was worried that the packaged box was slightly damaged, but there was no problem with the stuff. It has a very good performance, as it is known for, and I liked the very sturdy structure. Hasselblad x1d ii +35-75 is fixed easily. very good

Does the AS P0 fit well on the Gitzo Series 2 Traveller tripod in the folded position, so folded with head between the legs?
Asked by: Alex
Yes, it will fold up, but it gets in the way a bit, so it won't be flushed.

About how many degrees up or down can the head ...

About how many degrees up or down can the head tilt before you must use the drop notch? I ask because if mounted on a tripod with no column to rotate, once in the drop notch you will have to rotate the entire tripod to make any fine adjustment in the rotation since the panning is on top (good for shooting level panoramas but not so once in the drop notch).
Asked by: James M
Even when the head is tilted into the drop notch you can still rotate the head 360 degrees in either direction with no obstructions. The drop notch is part of the head and thus rotates with the head, so there is no problem there.

Can the drop notch be used at an angle of less than 90 degrees and locked in place? I want a horizontal orientation but with the camera pointed sharply up or down. My RRS BH-30 ballhead with drop notch certainly allows this -- does the P0?
Asked by: Mark
Yes. If you orient the camera body so it is perpendicular at a 90° angle to the notch on the ball head (and the lens is parallel to the notch), this would allow you to place the camera horizontal to the horizon while angling the camera up/down for your composition needs.

Lovely ballhead, just purchased. But I would like to remove the 1/4"-20 screw poking up from the centre, I just cannot get enough torque to attach a stable clamp. Can the screw be removed? -- not much room for a socket wrench!!

What clamp are you trying to put on it? I put the Really Right Stuff B2-LR-II Lever-Release Clamp (60mm)on it with no problems.

question

I just purchased this item from B&H. There are no directions. I assume you loosen the silver knob to pan the head, but all that happens is the silver part unscrews all the way and falls off, with no loosening of the top part of the head. I've thought about using a vice grips to turn the black part into which the silver handle threads, but I do not want to damage it. Any help would be appreciated.
Asked by: Anonymous
Yea, this is NOT obvious. the silver teardrop knob does loosen the head to pan but what pans is the stud and the (slightly) raised black inner piece that surrounds the stud, NOT the outer piece. Put a clamp/camera on the head and you'll see it pans when the silver knob is loose.

Does current production model have degree ...

Does current production model have degree markings around the circumference of the panning head as some customer photos and product photos of the versions of the Monoball P0 that come complete with QR clamps? It would be odd that this version would not have degree markings. Are the product photos of this version up-to-date?
Asked by: James M
the model requires the panning and quick release device that has the degree markings.
