  • 1Description

The ZEISS Distagon T* 28mm f/2.0 Lens with ZF.2 Mount for Nikon F Mount SLRs is a moderate wide-angle lens based on the renowned Distagon design of the 1980s for the Contax system. The modern Distagon T* has been optimized with current, higher performing and eco-friendly glass and incorporates a floating lens element design to optimize image quality across the entire focusing range.

This high-performance lens captures very detailed scenes with high accuracy and information content. Its fast f/2.0 aperture allows for handheld photography under difficult lighting conditions and it is well-suited for landscape, nature, and commercial photography. This manual focus Carl ZEISS SLR lens is for use with both analog and digital single-lens reflex cameras that are compatible with the ZF.2 lens mount.

    ZEISS 28mm f/2.0 reviews

Distagon T* 28mm f/2.0 Lens with ZF.2 Mount for Nikon F Mount SLRs is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dude...WOW I do a lot of street photography and portraits, and this lens is fantastic for both. I could not believe the colors it produces when I first saw them. It is an awesome, magical lens. The manual focusing takes a while to get used to, but if you work for it, it's worth the results. Even at f/2, it is really sharp, maybe a TINY bit soft in the corners, but nothing worth complaining about. It also has really nice bokeh, as a sidenote. It's also rock solid and made of metal and feels nice when focusing. Bottom line, this is definitely the best lens I own, and I couldn't recommend it more highly to anyone who is interested in street photography, landscapes, weddings, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very unique and versatile I've acquired a variety of the Zeiss catalog from 18mm to 85mm and find this lens the most unique and versatile. The unusual and very appealing captures are due primarily to the fact that this lens behaves as a hybrid of sorts: Wide angle, bit of macro and telephoto. This simply means one can focus within a very close distance to an object, say a flower or person, while capturing a wide angle background, say a forest or ocean, while adding a bit of bokeh if you choose. Of course the sharpness and color rendering are wonderful. I think what pushed me to choose this lens over the 25mm (would love to try) was the fact that Zeiss offers this one in their five lens set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great General-Purpose Lens I have three Zeiss ZF.2 lenses. I need to start using this Zeiss ZF.2 28mm more often! If you have several Zeiss lenses, the temptation is to go for the Zeiss ZF.2 15mm or Zeiss Zf.2 21mm first. But the Zeiss 28mm is small and rugged, and I am never disappointed with the ability of this lens to bring me in a little closer to the details of a landscape. I choose this lens for producing those close-in photos of fall colors, and I also prefer it for photos of icebergs from my kayak. The lens is much more useful than I expected, and the image quality is on par with my more-expensive Zeiss lenses. The build quality is great, so I am using this lens in off-the-grid locations without hesitation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent wide-angle lens I carried a 24-70 lens and found most of the the time I was using 28-35 range. Given the size of weight advantage, I decided to go prime. I know I'll have to move around to frame a picture, but it is not big problem in general. It is a manual focus lens and It may take a little time to get used to! But I used to own a Contax camera, manual focus was mandatory. I like the metal barrel & solid build, and the optic quality is fantastic, it is sharp, great color rendition, high contrast. I would not recommend to use it on DX format, it is a waste of the optic quality which can render a beautiful FX picture. This is a lens that I will use a lot and keep for the life time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OMG! This lens is very sharp indeed. I just got this lens after reading many reviews and hours of watching youtube videos to make sure I made the right decision. Boy, was I glad I did. I was leaning toward the Distagon 21mm f2.8 but something told me to go for the Distagon 28mm f2. I could not wait to test it out so I went to the Woodlands Mall and my goodness I was impressed with the results. It is slow to focus at first but after awhile you get the hang of it and it becomes joy. I would recommend this to anyone learning to focus manually. I shoot with a Nikon D7100 and it is truly remarkable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens.. Sharp, Great colors.. I bought it just before a vacation and couldn't be happier with my purchase.. i have canon (35mm 1.4L) and nikon (85 mm 1.4) lenses.. all the lens mentioned above are great and this zeiss is just as good.. I would have bought the nikon 24mm 1.4 G lens for this trip, but it was out of stock and decided to get this lens.. using MF lens after 15 odd years, was a good change.. this lens lived up to the zeiss hype on the internet.. focuses very close with good results.. infinity is a fixed location and it delivers sharp results.. don't buy a polarizer filter as this lens renders blue sky very well.. highly recommended if you can handle manual focus lens .. these lenses are built very well and will last a lifetime.. only down side is that you may end up wanting to buy the distagon 21mm and/or the 100mm makro down the road, like me..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One more Zeiss gem Using this lens for street shooting and landscape work makes it quite versatile for me. Mechanics, i.e. built, materials, moving parts are top like all Zeiss lenses in this line up. f/2 delivers a bright viewfinder and allows for more creative composition. This is a manual focus lens, which might slow down the process from time to time. Using it on DX cameras, the achieved field of view corresponds almost to 'normal' view and makes a nice one-lens walk around combo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Pro Video Having previously purchased the zeiss 50mm 1.4, i figured this lens would mantain that level of quality, well, i was wrong. This Lens is indeed better in many ways, such as no chromatic aberration or purple fringing present in backlight shots. Besides this lens is very sharp, even at its widest aperture. I chose this lens over the Zeiss 21mm, since it provided me with a medium type of wide lens.
