Erin Manning Home Studio Lighting Kit (120VAC) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Handle with care As primarily a natural light lifestyle portrait photographer, I don't often have the need for lighting equipment. So when my old lighting set-up needed to be replaced, I didn't want to spend a fortune to do so. I bought this kit and gave it a go. The positives: 1. The lighting was VERY natural and the softboxes diffused it nicely. 2. The equipment was very easy to put together and disasemble. 3. The equipment DID stay cool to the touch (which is a great benefit for me since I work with a lot of kids), and the lightbulbs themselves cooled down really quickly. Now, the negatives: 1. One of the light stands BROKE the first time I used it! I must have tightened one of the bolts just a BIT too much because the whole piece snapped off in my hands, making it impossible to raise that section of the light stand as necessary. (Note: I do NOT have super-strength or anything.) 2. I wish this kit came with a carrying case of sorts, as it is a bit awkward to move around on its own. I attempted to put things back into the original box and use that since it had a handle, but the equipment FELL OUT THE BOTTOM when I lifted. I had to use packing tape to reinforce the bottom of the box to use it to safely store the equipment. 3. The lights aren't very powerful. While I found the equipment GREAT for individuals and even two kids, the light fell off quite drastically when I attempted to take a group shot of 5 kids. Bottom line: if you want to try out contant lights for the first time, or need them occasionally for your work, I recommend giving these a go. Just be GENTLE when handling them. And if you work with lots of GROUP photos or want more high-key images, I recommend looking elsewhere. ADDITIONAL NOTE: I contacted B&H to let them know about the damage, and they offered to replace the piece with a comparable light stand. They also provided me with all the manufacturer's contact info in case I wanted to contact them directly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Money Well Spent I'm a photo enthusiast and family photographer, so I use this product to take photos of my family, friends, products, and food. This product is easy to assemble, transport, and store. I haven't found anything bad to say about this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This a great product for the price I used this product to take photos of my daughter indoors without the harsh camera flash. I assembled the lighting system in twenty minute after watching the educational video. For the price I think the system is great to take photos of your family. The lamps are very bright, cool to the touch, and safe to use around small children.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Erin Manning Lighting kit from B&H Purchased for my home video studio, this Erin Manning lighting kit was easy to set up and easy to use. Both strong and light-weight, I would certainly recommend this item for anyone setting up a small office studio.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great set I bought these lights to do indoor portraits. It's very easy to set up and take down. The quality of the lights is better than I expected and the educational dvd was very informative. It was nice to see them in use since I have never used studio lights. The only reason for the missing star was that it came to me missing a part. I contacted B&H and the manufacturer sent it right out to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Deal for the Money I'm using these lights to teach a high school photography class. They will not be used everyday so the quality meets our needs. They do produce very nice soft light, we use them for portraits and still life photos. These are by no means professional studio lights, but for occasional use they work just fine. A good value for the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value For The Price Great for a person in need of a very basic lighting kit. Easy to assemble, simple to use. Be very careful to go easy on the Light Stands. These are not heavy duty by any means, but if you take care, they work just fine.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Weak. Light stands are not good. I ended up up returning this. The light stands are very cheaply built. Maybe I'm just too used to using Manfrottos but I found these light stands too difficult to open (I ended up jamming my fingers a few times). The quality of the lights is good but I found it to be too weak for studio photography.
