MultiCart R12RT Overview

The MultiCart RocknRoller R12RT 8-in-1 All-Terrain Equipment Cart is adjustable from 34 to 52" in length in eight different configurations, and supports up to 500 lb loads. It's suitable for audio and film/video/photo gear, facility maintenance, trade shows, and any other use requiring a heavy payload and adjustability. The R12RT model has a black and yellow design with a bit of silver, in contrast to its sister cart, the R12STEALTH, sold separately, which is identical but comes in black and silver only.

The cart features a 13.5" wide frame bed and has foldable sides measuring 32". The sides can be raised on one or both ends to better secure your equipment. What makes this an all-terrain cart are the patented R-Trac wheels. There are rugged, foam-filled, no-flat 10" wheels in the rear and 8", no-flat swivel casters with a brake in front. These are made for just about any terrain, such as rough and tricky surfaces like gravel and grass. The R-Trac tires provide a smooth ride with superior traction. The cart frame is made of powder-coated, telescoping steel tubes. When it comes time for storage, the cart folds up compact and nearly flat to fit in closets and similar spaces.

There are also various optional accessories available for the cart from MultiCart, such as an extendable shelf, a solid deck, cargo extension rack, and laptop shelf.

MultiCart R12RT Reviews

Excellent

Easy to transport heavy sound systems even on bumpy uneven roads and sidewalks using this rock roller r12. A big difference from the r10 which has smaller wheels and got stuck in the grass

Sadly, not as good as they once were.

I owned the previous version of this cart and it was great. Cheap, light weight, and schlepped my gear from location to location for about 4 years in NYC. The first cart had to be retired so I bought the newer version which is not made as well. I have had it for just over a year and have had the wheel housing bend out of shape twice! The Multicart folks sent me a new wheel with housing and a week after installation that wheel housing bent as well. If you are only doing very light loads, this cart may be ok...for a while. If you are working on documentaries with a professional light weight package don't bother with this cart. It is not reliable and will likely leave you with your gear stranded. This cart is not as durable as the previous version. There is nothing All-Terrain about this cart. Hit a few twists in the road and the housing holding the wheel will bend out of shape. For $300+ the cart should be better, and once was. Adios MultiCart!

The infamous RocknRoller! Be realistic with expectations!

These carts are famous! They're famous for being cheap, both in price and in quality. They're also famous for being unique and useful. You often curse them and praise them all in the same sentence. Filmmakers, DJs, and musicians across the world rely on them. Some people have used them their entire careers and don't ever plan on stopping or upgrading to something else. And some people just can't deal with them at all and toss 'em within a month. If you buy one and it's missing parts, or the holes don't line up exactly when you put it together, just remind yourself how much you paid for it. Go look at the carts from Inovativ and compare their prices with the Rock-n-Roller and that will put things into perspective a bit. An Inovativ cart is a Toyota Tacoma, the Rock-N-Roller cart is a rickety ol' donkey. But the crazy thing is... even rickety ol' donkeys are still useful! And if you give them a chance, they can even do some things a pickup trunk can't. I'd say my two favorite things about this ol' donkey cart are the cost and the expandability. I love that it becomes a giant cart on command. I'd say the worst thing about this cart is the stability of the vertical handles. They have a lot of play, so when you push or pull the cart, the vertical handles move about 2 to 3 before the cart does. If anywhere, this is where the cart feels like a cheap piece of crap. For some people it's no big deal, but if it bothers you a bunch, you can always hit some DIY videos on Youtube and make a stabilizing bar for it. There are a ton of DIY mods for Rock-n-Rollers out there. Some people replace all the hardware right off the bat just to reinforce everything. If there was one thing I wish the Rock-n-Roller cart could do that it cannot do it'd be fast wheel removal. I'd love some quick release wheels so you can pop the wheels off and on quickly for storage. But hey, modern conveniences lead to increased prices. And the best thing about the rock-n-roller is the price. Whatever you decide to do, it's really hard to be angry or disappointed with something that costs so little, but has the potential to literally save your back on gigs. Just be prepared for all the usual pitfalls that come with cheap, rushed manufacturing. And if you prepare yourself by lowering your expectations right off the bat, then this thing will blow you away. Remember... it's a donkey, not a truck.

Love this cart

This cart is fantastic for...well...transporting gear. The large wheels make it easy to maneuver and I love how it collapses. Of course there are other, much more expensive, carts that are a little more solid, but this works extremely well for my needs.

Great Cart - Watch Your Fingers

As a guitar player I value my fingers. This cart is awesome. But, there are so many pinch points to on the lookout for. I have found my fingers in the wrong place twice. I thought I broke one once. Almost cost me a gig. The cart will haul most of the gear I need for a small gig. I got the All-Terrain model because of rough parking lots and doorways. It was worth it. I wish it was a few inches wider. Some gear gets a little off balance on a long haul and wants to fall off. (A few more inches may help keep your fingers from getting crushed too!) It has 2 detents for length. Short and stretched all the way out. The are no positive stops in between. I'll probably drill some hole to make my own. I used the thumb screws to try and use a mid length. But, on rough parking lots the screws back out and it stretches letting the gear slide. Seriously, WATCH YOUR FINGERS!!!

A little big when collapsed but it's worth it.

The cart is exactly as how I expected. Strong, smooth and it looks sharp. I think RocknRoller should ditch the yellow colors; I think most would agree with me haha

Great Cart but worth investing in next level up

I can't really complain, because this has been a great tool in multiple locations for me. The size is great and it folds down easily. The handles are a bit wobbly when locked into place, but so far they have held strong with some hefty gear. I wish the wheels were rubber, but these haven't given me any trouble. Overall great product, but I'd probably upgrade to the next level up if I did it all over again.

They must build them fast.

I have to start by saying that this is the third one I have purchased. They are relatively inexpensive. It is a love/ hate relationship I have with them though. While the basic concept is pretty handy there are significant shortcuts in the construction. Fit and finish is sloppy and more than once some corner or another has drawn blood. My biggest complaint is the rolling resistance. They seem to use some kind of home brew roller bearing but the races seem to be the plastic wheel and a lopped off piece of round steel stock (this one was rusty and then had to be filed down to even get the wheel on). I got the other wheel on but then had to pull it and file it off to just get the wheel to roll. With a lot of weight on it you will have to really lean into it to push it downhill. I just try to keep the light stuff on the RR carts and put the heavy stuff on the Magliner.

Can you set the length to distances between the minimum and maximum?
Asked by: Andrew
Yes, the length of the MultiCart RocknRoller R12RT 8-in-1 All-Terrain Equipment Cart is adjustable from 34 to 52" in length. If you are using the shelves on the cart, then you will be locked to setting the cart to specific lengths, depending on the length or configuration of the shelf (some of the shelves do allow you to remove segments and adjust the length, but not as flexible as the cart by itself).

We do carry the Stealth Series wheels on their own. The rear wheels would be the MultiCart Stealth R-Trac Rear Wheel with Offset Hub for R10/R11G/R12/R18 (10 x 3", 2 Pack), BH # MURWHLO103BK while the front wheels are the MultiCart All-Terrain Stealth Caster with Brake for R12STEALTH (8 x 2", Black Hub, 2-Pack), BH # MURCSTR8X2BK https://bhpho.to/3ifiBb2 https://bhpho.to/3gcCnBE
