    BlackRapid BRAD reviews

BRAD (Black Rapid Arm Defense) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 90.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from not happy It gets 2 stars for being able to work when it's needed. It loses a star for not being included with the strap originally. It's just another way for them to take your money. The main strap is flawed because it requires the brad strap to function without hastle. The brad strap does eliminate the hastle. It loses a star for the price. FAR too overpriced. Loses yet another star because it doesn't clip on very effectively. If you have to put your camera down you'll find the brad strap can easily come off. If the back clip comes off it's very tricky to get back on. Overall, I have a love hate relationship with this thing. It's absolutely needed because the RS strap is flawed without it. It works when needed. But it's design is terrible and the extra cost of buying this separately when it should be included with the RS strap really rubs me the wrong way.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Adds some stability I have a little one that is always with me when I am taking pictures. I am constantly bending over and picking him up or helping him with something. My RS-7 is generally a very good strap that controls my gear under normal circumstances but it was not meant for such extreme movement. The BRAD was easy to install and it has improved the RS-7's ability to control my camera & lens with my little one around. It is not perfect but I don't know of a strap that does a better job than this one. Perhaps the Black Rapids Sports model does? Given my choice of equipment and the freedom of movement and comfort I am generally happy with my current selection.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good solution to strap slippage. I'm a wedding and portrait photographer so I'm constantly moving. I LOVE my Black Rapid RS-W1 strap but found that it was slipping around quite frequently and usually the camera would slide around to my front(even with the bumpers in place) where it would be in the way. I got the Brad attachment after a recommendation from a friend and found that it would fit my RS-W1. I found it easy to attach and adjust, and the little bit of elastic on it make it comfortable to wear even when you're moving. It does a good job keeping my RS-W1 in place when it's hanging, but I am having a bit of an issue when I bring the camera up; with the weight of the camera & lens no longer on the strap I'm finding the Brad still pulls the strap down when I bring my camera to my eye, and this causes my RS-W1 to slip off of my shoulder completely and hang around my arm, which means I have to re-adjust every time I put the camera back down. A little annoying but survivable and at least I don't have to worry about my camera swinging around to the front anymore when it's hanging.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you use a cross-body sling strap, you need this. Look, there's only so much of a review one can make about a piece of nylon and plastic... But that's just it... This little widget is amazing. Whenever I'm taking pictures, and I'm crouched down for that shot, my Black Rapid sling strap sort of just... slides off my shoulder. It's annoying, especially if I'm wearing a jacket, because putting it back takes my attention away from the pictures. This little gizmo keeps the strap where it belongs! I used it for the first time today in a two mile celebration parade, and not once did my strap ever move. Little accessories like this are worth every dime.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Don't really need it I bought this when i got my RS-7 Camera Strap by Black Rapid strap. I'm giving the BRAD 3 starts because it isn't needed. If you see any of the videos for the Black rapid straps they really do correct themselves when you let the camera go back to your side. I'm marking this as I wouldn't recommend it only because I got one and haven't needed it. If you have a BR strap and think the strap moves around too much I'm sure this would work great for you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Additional peace of mind... I own the Women's Black Rapid strap and love it. But I always felt like I needed additional protection to keep my camera from accidently getting tossed around. Especially when shooting action shots or walking in crowds. Having the BRAD attachment gives me that additional peace of mind by keeping my camera more securely attached by my side. The only thing I wish is that my RS-W1's padding was smaller so that when I put my camera up to my eye the strap didn't side up/down from my shoulder. In order for me to comfortably use the BRAD while shooting I have to losen the strap more than I'd prefer but that's because of the padding issue from the RS-W1 and shouldn't be an issue with other Black Rapid straps.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quite useful... The product is functional and is of pretty good quality in terms of materials and construction (fabric and plastic). I use it whenever I use my R-Strap, which is usually when I have a heavier lens attached to my camera (70-200mm VRII). Works great. Used with the RS-7 Curve strap it doesn't quite fit my shoulders perfectly, sometimes moving around a bit more than I would like. Could possibly remedy this by using the sport strap or one that is more ergonomically suited for my body type. When attached to the strap, the Brad has extra material hanging off that causes the design not to have a seamless look. The aesthetics and design could be improved. This does not affect the functionality of the product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Useful product Useful to stabilize R strap. It does decrease the length of the strap making it difficult to move camera to face if you are 6'1 or taller.
