Rated 5 out of 5 by from Accurate and Inexpensive! I use this thermometer to get my c-41 chemistry started and develop my negatives! I use old 2-liter soda bottles with my chemistry, so if I need to get this down into the bottle to test temperature of chemicals, I just tape it to a dowel or a bamboo skewer and dip it down into the bottle to get a proper temp. through the transparent bottles. Even if the bottles I used were opaque, the thermometer holds the reading for a few seconds before dropping... so you can pull out the thermometer and still get an accurate reading. Stop wondering... just put it into your cart and buy it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly as advertised. I purchased the thermometer for use in black and white film processing. It seems to be highly accurate and quick in responding to temperature changes. It is fragile, but I knew that when I bought it. I actually bought two and promptly dropped one on the hard floor, shattering it all over the place! The thermometer came with a protective case that was not used at the time. Overall, aside from my own butterfingers, I am pleased with the thermometer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Functional, inexpensive thermometer This was just what I was looking for, an accurate, easy-to-read darkroom thermometer. The plastic tube in comes in is handy for protecting it in storage as well. Its only draw-back, as others have noted, is its short length.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Reads 4 Degrees Lower The thermometer I got always reads at least 4 degrees lower. When it arrived the internal fluid has a small segment separated at the top and that segment never comes down. After calibrating it in ice and water mixture (32 degree), I found it always reads 4 degrees lower. I went to B&H store and finds several new same thermometers on the shelf. I intended to replace the one I have. But I gave up on that idea, because even the brand new ones on the shelf don't agree with each other on the room temperature with difference of several degrees.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not bad, good value This is a pretty solid thermometer, especially for the price. I mean, no celcius readings, but that's not a big deal for most of us who are just aiming for that ideal 68 F. It's good for tray and short bottle measurements because of its short length. If that's okay with you, I wouldn't hesitate to get this. Its accuracy is quite reasonable as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A necessity in the dark room. I'm very glad I got this thermometer. It's very easy to read and it's a no frills afordable piece that's great for me as a beginner. I only got a thermometer to err on the side of caution, and I'm glad I did. It seems kind of obvious now, but here in the south the water runs hotter than 68F. If I guessed I might have added hot. Turns out I needed ice. Don't try to guess. The glass construction feels very solid, but I haven't exactly thrown it against the wall to verify. Short of abuse, I think it will last just fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Durable I use this product countless times in the dark room while developing my negatives. It is flat and thick which is easier to hold than the skinny thermometers. It reads well when looking at it from all angles. It fit into my student budget ... I wish it was a few inches longer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works It does what it is suppose to do, but 6 was not long enough to use with the containers i have. So make sure 6 is long enough for your needs. works great all the same and easy to read. Just consider what size you need as to not make the same mistake I made.
