Nikon AF Micro NIKKOR 60mm f/2.8D Overview

Ideal for close-up shooting, the Nikon AF Micro-NIKKOR 60mm f/2.8D is a short telephoto macro lens offering a life-size 1:1 maximum magnification along with an 8.7" minimum focusing distance. Benefitting working throughout the focus range, the optical design uses a Close Range Correction system, which maintains consistent image quality and sharpness from the minimum focusing distance to infinity. Additionally, a rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Slightly longer-than-normal prime is designed for FX-format F-mount cameras, however can also be used with DX models where it provides a 90mm equivalent focal length.
Ideal for macro shooting, this lens offers a life-size 1:1 maximum magnification along with a minimum focusing distance of 8.7" to suit working with close-up subjects.
Close Range Correction system helps to maintain consistent image quality throughout the entire focusing range.
Autofocus system is compatible with select Nikon DSLRs that support D-type lenses, and offers quick and precise focusing performance.

Autofocus is not supported by DSLRs lacking an autofocus motor, such as the D3000-series, D5000-series, D40, D40X, and D60, where the lens may be used with manual focus only.
Rounded seven-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.

Using the lens on a nikon D 750. Auto focus is fast and accurate . Lens is well built . Using the lens for flower photography ,, images crisp and saturated. Yes l would recommend this lens and shopping at B and H . I been a loyal customer for over 30 yeas . By Rocky

So far so good, and Thank You B&H for the easy of online purchase and delivery. Through my research everyone indicated how Sharp this lens is. My opinion confirms everyone's comment, plus being a prime lens doesn't hurt. As with all macro work depth of field is minimal and to be considered. Lens is a little heavy but solid. Did purchase the Nikon HN-22 metal hood & Hoya NXT HMC UV filter. Both for protective purposes. Made in Japan is a plus for Nikon D series Lenses.

Bought the wrong lens.

One of 2 finest focusing lenses in my bag- the other being the Nikon 135 D. Make no mistake, the 60mm is slightly slower and makes some noise while seeking focus- but the pictures it produces are super sharp. I have a couple newer Nikon fixed lenses- the 35 1.8 and the 50 1.4 but the 60 is what I keep on my D750 unless I need a longer reach. Amazing lens...

For many years I have used a Sigma 180mm which takes a great macro shot. However, it's so heavy you need a tripod. So this 60 mm lens is great to take macro shots on the go. This little lens fits the bill! Just an adjustment from the 180 mm.

Very sharp, as a micro is very good lens to be use by people who like to photograph flowers, insects, etc. also is an excelent lens for close ups and portraits.

My second 60 mm 2.8D. Don't Drop it.

Do you use to the aperture ring on the D lenses, or a s it done through the camera? I have a D610. I want to save money by getting the d series lenses. My other question is should I only use my camera switch on manual and only use manual on the D lens series?

What is the purpose of the full/limit switch please?

Due to the nature of this lens (macro with close up focus ability) the overall focusing range is greater than many other conventional lenses, and in order to save on A) battery power, B) focusing experience Nikon has essentially divided the focusing range into two parts, and when you select the limit aspect you are then restricting the focusing range to either 1) the shorter macro measurements or 2) the normal to infinity range. This saves on the battery power from having the camera focus through the entire range, and cuts down on the camera's hunting to come into focus so you come into focus quicker.

The FULL/LIMIT switch allows you to limit the range of focus of the lens to speed up autofocus performance based on your current usage needs. Due to the lens having a wide focus range from a minimum focus distance of 8.66 inches to a far focus distance of infinity, using the entire focus range can sometimes cause the lens to hunt-and-peck when trying to acquire a focus subject. When using the lens as a standard lens, when the switch on the lens is placed in the LIMIT position, you may limit close focus to 1 foot; as such, it would not enter the macro focus range. Conversely, when using the lens as a macro lens and the switch is in the LIMIT position, you may limit the far focus to 10 inches so it will only utilize the macro focus range. When the switch is set to FULL, you would be able to use the full range of focus.

The Nikon AF 60mm f/2.8D lens is a full frame lens, and will be compatible with the D800. For the most part, if a lens doesn't say DX in the name then it is a FX lens, regardless if it states FX or not.

That lens is a full frame 60mm Nikon mount lens and is compatible with the D800 series cameras. And when used is 60mm.

Re compatible with D7100 question - what do you ean by locking aperture to 32? You can't use other apertures with it on the 7100? I have a 7200.

Yes, it is compatible with your camera. You will have access to all apertures. Locking the aperture for cameras like yours is so you can adjust the aperture through the camera body. Digital cameras must do this, older film cameras don't, they require the use of the aperture ring to adjust exposure.
