    Redrock Micro microLensGear reviews

microLensGear Size C (Black) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Ring with Solid Teeth This ring may well be more expensive than other zip-tie like gears out there, but the quality is pretty fantastic. The ring is made out of heavy duty plastic that has very little give to it. I never feel like the teeth are bending out of place, even when I have it wrapped around a heavier zoom wheel. It did take me a good bit of effort to get this mounted to my 24-105mm lens - the lens was just a bit large for the smaller of the two included screws, but too small for the large screw. It took a pair of pliers, but the small screw ended up working and I now have a great looking gear on my lens!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use I was torn between the microLensGears, and some 360 degree gears from competitors. the problem with the 360 degree gears is they're either expensive, custom-fit jobs that take a long time to get, or they're prohibitively time-consuming to get just right, and even more-so to swap a single gear between multiple lenses. To get the best performance from your microLensGears, I recommend measuring your focus ring barrel, and buying the correct size. These are easy enough to move between lenses that you really only need one of each size, and you can swap them between multiple lenses with similar sizes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It Works I use this with a Sigma 17-70 DC Zoom Lens on a Canon 7D, and it works well. Why is it a $ item? I have no clue. Nowhere does this thing scream pro or does it have any particularly unique qualities that make it especially easy to use. You still have to line the thing up perfectly on the focus ring to keep it from binding with the follow focus gear. It is basically a nice piece of plastic with a nice markup.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the trick. Seems to hold well enough when tightened, and doesn't damage the lens. However, the sizes are a bit limiting and ZE users should beware that the lens gears are oddly sized for the ZE lenses.. They will work, but are just on the cusp of not fitting well. I've only tried RR lens gears so I cannot comment on other brands. But again, they do the trick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Made and a Perfect Fit I bought this to gear a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens. It required the larger fastening screw, but it fit well. You don't need to torque it down too tight. It's very well made; it's a precision gear, and the width matches perfectly with a Redrock Micro FF. All-in-all it's a good gear...but a little pricey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect I bought a follow focus, but the lens gear that came as part of the package was not up to snuff. After looking through reviews, this seemed the perfect gear for my Canon 24-70 and 70-200mm 2.8. I would definitely but this again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A little pricey, but great quality Does what I want, but very pricey. Also, the ruler from the red rock site isn't very good as the ruler states I need a size C, yet size C is too big for my lens, and a challeng to make fit, I should have taken size B.
    Date published: 2013-03-13
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pricy based on its function Lens diameters are varying dramatically. You have to be very specific when buying the gears. Also you might need multiple gears with same specifications. I have seen better quality gears for reasonable prices.
