The microLensGear enables an exact fit between your 35mm SLR lens and Redrock Micro's microFollowFocus system, which allows for more precise and fluid focus adjustments when using still lenses to shoot video. The Size A gear wraps around lenses with a focus ring circumference of 180-220mm, and is pulled snug with one of the included fastening screws.

    Redrock Micro microLensGear reviews

microLensGear Size A (Blue) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well with Nikkor lenses. I considered a lower profile lens gear like the Zacuto Zip Gear, but because of the 52mm diameter of my Nikkor lenses the Rebrock Mocrolens gear was a better choice for me. The Redrock is also a wider gear which helps with the lens barrel travel you get with some still lenses. If the focus gear is too narrow the follow focus gear will roll off the edge of the gear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, just be careful on the size Love Redrock and their high quality gear. For whatever reason, their website suggests you use this ring for the Zeiss ZE 50mm lens. I ordered it and this is not the correct size - it's too small even with the longer threaded rod. If you're looking for a ring for that lens, go with size B. Fits perfectly. I'd recommend going ahead and getting at least sizes A, B, and C as you never know when you might acquire a lens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Handy Compromise I use this lens gear primarily on vintage stills glass, to make them more suitable for video. This is a fantastic lens gear, with only one compromise, and that is; its' small dead zone. At the place where the screw tightens the gear, there is a spot where your follow focus cannot go. For the vast majority of lenses, this is not an issue whatsoever, as their throw is usually significantly shorter than the entirety of the focus ring, but this can cause problems with some stills lenses that do not have built in hard-stops for the focus ring, and lenses with extremely long focus throws. That said, i believe this is a completely valid compromise, and the ability to move a single lens gear between multiple lenses easily and quickly is fantastic. While there are other seamless lens gear options, their finicky nature lends them to a take the time to set it up perfectly once, and then leave it there forever approach, which is a bit prohibitive if you're on a budget, or want to swap between geared operation and normal focus ring operation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very secure, easy to fit, and large diameter The fitting is easy and secure. With the focus+zoom lever, it provides a very viable solution without using an additional follow focus unit, in some ways superior for the shooter that has to pull their own focus.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great product for filmmakers I purchased a microLensGrear to each of my for lens and leave them in place for fast lens changes when shooting.
