  • 1Description

The Redrock Micro 12" microWhip is a low-cost, high-quality Arri-style whip that fits into the accessory port of the microFollowFocus unit and allows operators and camera assistants to pull focus at a distance from the camera. Solidly built--with rubberized handle and rugged locking insert--the microWhip is comparable in quality to more expensive whips and can work with other standard follow focus units.

    Redrock Micro microWhip reviews

12" microWhip is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Use a microWhip especially flying solo I use the 12 microWhip by Redrock Micro to film fast action sports like thoroughbred racing with an HD Panasonic AF-100 and follow-focus by Redrock Micro. At first, it was a little tricky to determine responsiveness to the dial, yet found it quite helpful. I was working a jib arm in addition to adjusting zoom on the fly (not recommended), yet I was a working solo, so I needed a third hand! I relied on the 12 microWhip to fit snug into the follow-focus and remain there as the jib arm rose. 12 was the right length and I was impressed that it actually adjusted the focus as I cranked the dial. I would recommend Redrock include a strip a velcro with the product to secure the Whip to other equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes pulling focus much easier I have to say, I didn't see the total value of a whip until using one. This one is a standard fit and while some people said they wanted a tighter fit, it fit my follow focus just fine, not too tight or too loose. A whip has multiple advantages first and foremost it gets your hand off of the camera and also it make your 1st AC's job easier and allows the camera operator more room. Small price to pay for better focus pulls which save time throughout the day

Rated 4 out of 5 by from fits my Arri FF4 very well So far, so good. I only used it a little bit the other day, but it's a nice, tight fit in my Arri FF4 follow focus. I was worried it would be loose, but it's a solid connection. 12 seems a tad long for most work where you want a whip, but it seems well-built and should last a while. Hopefully it won't get lost like the last one! This seemed like the best option at a fair price. Arri's whip is ridiculously expensive.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn't fit Arri MFF well It's built sturdy and so forth, but it jiggles in the Arri Mini Follow Focus. I had to jimmy-rig a better fit using different slips and tapes. A good price, but if I had known it would clatter in my follow focus, I would have bought some off brand one on an online auction site for half this price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Fits my Genus follow-focus just fine. Not as flexible as I expected, but this is my first experience with a whip. When you turn it, it's rock solid- no play whatsoever.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great price, good product This is a good product, the only problem your have with this whip is that you can't add another whip to it if you need to double the length.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! When used with the RRM follow focus, this whip makes focusing a breeze, and there's no lens shake, which is the whole point!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could be tighter It makes life a lot easier when working on a camera with all the fruit, but the attachment could be slightly tighter.
