    Panasonic DMC-ZR3 reviews

LUMIX DMC-ZR3 Digital Camera (Black) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 124.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best compact camera and great videos The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZR3 remains an excellent compact camera, especially for videographers. The ZR3 inherits the 720p AVCHD Lite movie format, bringing with it a much-needed reduction in file size plus a very welcome one-touch record button, HDMI port and simple in-camera editing options. There's no stereo sound or full 1080p HD, but the improvements have definitely made the ZR3 a more appealing option in terms of moving footage. The combination of an ultra-compact, lightweight and well-made body with the 8x, 25-200mm lens remains a real winner, with few real rivals from other manufacturers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good deal. This is replacing my TZ3 as my travel camera (I have a Canon SLR with nice lenses). TZ3 with 10x zoom, compared to ZR3 with 8x zoom, the ZR3 doesn't suffer due to increased #pixels. Advantage: almost half the weight and size. Can also throw in back pocket of my biking jersey, for nicer pics than using my iphone. Has been working smoothly, accurate color, little shutter lag. Since it is not the newest model, it is a good deal price-wise. Obviously won't replace my SLR, but a great camera for casual photos, family, weddings, including wildlife on the back roads.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camera!!! I use the camera to take pictures of everything, from biking to sports and just pictures of my pets. Its awesome, and captures really great pictures. It starts up really quickly so you can take pictures right away. Has a lot of effects and functions. It doesn't have a lot of control options so if you're looking for something like that, this isn't the one for you. But if you're looking for an all around camera with some extra cool functions to take anywhere this is the one! Also the intelligent auto capture is really great and makes taking pictures a snap!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the camera. I was very skeptical about buying a point and shoot camera. I own a Nikon D80 and was afraid nothing could come close to it. The quality as well as the fast focus. The Lumix DMC-ZR3 is wonderful. We went back to Disney World and I didn't want to pack the weight of the Nikon with me. The Lumix was not only light weight but did an exellent job. The camera focuses really quick and has little lag time in capturing your photograph. There were a few prints where because of low lighting (although it did shoot in some low lighting situations) I didn't get exactly what I wanted and the Nikon would have allowed more light in through the lens, but all in all I totally loved the camera. The weight and moreover the quality of photographs that I got to record our memories of this trip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive as advertised I am a dslr user and have always had low expectations for point and shoot cameras. After quite a bit of research I decided on this camera because of its high picture quality, impressive zoom capabilities, and hd video. The zoom is amazing, the pictures are some of the best I have seen come from a point and shoot, but the video has literally blown my mind. Fantastic camera. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Fantastic Camera I got this camera after prolonged debate about buying a compact camera or an SLR. I must say i made a very good decision when I decided to buy a compact camera first. Let me just start with the look of the camera - It looks amazing and it is so compact that it will easily fit in your regular shirt pocket. It is a 14.1 megapixel camera meaning that although it may look compact it takes massive pictures with amazing clarity. It works in 4:3, 3:2 and 16:9 modes without issues. I have not tried the video capture yet as I have yet to buy a high capacity SD card, but I'm sure it will do great. I'm very happy with the purchase from B&H (as always) and I will definitely recommend this to anyone I know.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is one Awesome Camera I have always been a Nikon camera supporter and decided after reading a few reviews to take a chance and purchase this Panasonic DMC-ZR3 camera after reading many reviews over a one-month period in deciding to make my purchase. This turned out to be a great buying decision, as this is one awesome camera which surpassed my expectations. MOVIE MODE - I purchased this primarily to be point-and-shoot camera, and felt that the 720P movie mode to be an extra bonus. I read reviews about other camera's not allowing the lens to zoom in-or-out during the movie mode, or that if they did one would hear an audible noise from the lens motor being picked up from the internal microphone. The Panasonic DMC-ZR3 does perform zoom during the movie mode and I did not hear any motor noise when using this feature. The quality for the 720P movies where much to my liking and I found that I had used the feature a lot this last week while on vacation. The camera has built-in slideshow presentation software that turned out to be a great bonus when the family sat down in front of the TV and I played back the still pictures along with the movies. The presentation played some background music during the stills and then muted to play the audio from the movies when it was their turn to be queued. The slideshow lasted a good 45 minutes with the movies added in, and everyone enjoyed it. STILL MODE The picture produced by this camera are spectacular to the point I doubt I will be using my Nikon or Ricoh film cameras anymore. While driving to our destination I took many shots from a moving car (during daytime) and was surprised in the quickness of the camera's response time and motion stabilization that the scenery shoots came out very clear and un-blurred. I did take a few still shoots (not from a moving car) during dusk and found the pictures to be simi-grainy indicating a low light threshold of adequate performance. The camera's presets modes were very helpful in boosting performance when at night I took pictures of a full moon with some foreground effects, so overall sensitivity to low light performance could probably be enhance once I learn the camera's features better. The Macro mode feature of this camera was one of the biggest surprises, it is just fabulous! I took close-up shots where the lens was space about 2.0 inches away from the target with amazing results. The cameras 8X Zoom provides shots with the maximum 14.1 pixel resolution quality images and the enhanced 10X-16X Digital Zoom features provides additional zoom feature with a lesser image resolution. Although most camera users will turn off the digital zoom feature because of the lesser resolution, I turned it on to take some shots to zoom in on hand-gliders jumping off a mountain. First, the camera will let you know when it exceeds the lens 8X zoom level as the zoom scale will read out the zoom factor and indicate the scale in green up to this point; once the zoom surpasses the 8X threshold the scale will turn a red color indicating the lesser resolution settings are taking place. SUMMARY I purchased this camera along with two Lexar SDHC PLTNM II CLASS 6 16GB (100x) 2 PK - LESDP2C616G2 memories because I felt I needed the additional write speed performance of this memory. In addition, I wanted not to be caught with a dead battery, so I purchased an additional Panasonic DMW-BCG10 Battery. Be careful not to purchase an aftermarket battery for this camera as the manual specifically states that is will know the battery being inserted and will disable operating with aftermarket batteries. I have no problem with this as I have experience bad things in the past when using questionable batteries of cheaper quality and cost, so I actually appreciate this feature. The camera's ability to perform is unquestionably excellent in its still motion compensation, its intuitiveness of being able to use the camera's menu. The low light level seems adequate, but might be better once I play with its settings. The720P movie mode is a great bonus in it performance (don't forget, you will need an HDMI (Type C) cable which needs to be purchased separately in order to see HDMI output on your TV (it come only with a composite video with audio cable). The camera does come with a battery charger, although you will not find this stated on either Panasonic's or B&H website. The quick slideshow presentation built in the camera is fun to play with and can be used to view your shots either from the camera rear panel LCD display, or on your TV. This is an awesome camera which I would recommend to anyone looking to purchase a great point and shoot camera supporting a host of great features. Thank You B&H and Panasonic!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally a point & shoot that works! A+++ I needed a light weight camera that takes sharp pictures, close up. The Macro is great. The camera is light, easy to use and well worth the extra couple of bucks more than the Canon I had before. Nice image quality, good color reproduction, easy to download to my Mac. I have nothing negative to say. It's nice to get what you pay for...for a change!
