Opteka OPTSC72FE overview

  • 1Description

The Opteka 72mm 0.3X HD Ultra Fisheye Lens Adapter uses multi-coated, low-dispersion glass to produce crisp, high-definition video images. Great for dramatic effects and extremely wide fields of view--think sports, think dream sequences, think the HAL-9000 computer--this fisheye adapter screws onto the front of your existing camcorder lens and bends a 180° view into a peephole-style circle. Straight lines become curved, noses become bulbous, eyes become goggly, and objects in your viewfinder will be closer than they appear.

HD2: High Definition 2
2x the resolution of standard high definition lenses.
DMC: Digital Multi-Coated
Greatly reduces the appearance of lens flare and ghosting caused by reflections.
BAB: Internal Black Almite Barrel
Black matte satin finish reduces reflections.
BRG: Black Rimmed Glass
Reduces the chance of light reflecting off the edge.
High-index / low-dispersion optical glass
Fully multi-coated, every element
High speed auto-focus / infrared compatible
Maximize day & night shots by providing maximum light transmission

    Opteka OPTSC72FE reviews

72mm 0.3X HD Ultra Fisheye Lens Adapter is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing alternative to Century. I'm an amateur vidographer and I mainly shoot action sports such as bmx and skateboarding. The lens of choice for this type of filming has always been the deathlens but not everyone can afford it. After I sold my Canon GL2 and Century MK2 fisheye to upgrade to my DVX100B, I didn't have enough money to get another Century lens so I decided to give the Opteka a try. I have zero regrets with my decision. The Opteka is EXACTLY the same compared to the Century in terms of distortion and width. The only downside I can find is that the edges of the vignetting can get a blue tint when filming directly into the sun and the lack of a bayo mount but for only $ you can't really complain.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 72mm 0.3X HD Ultra with Sony HDR AX2000 This is an excellent fisheye, but not for this camera. Of course You can put a ring on a camera so that the fisheye can fit, and it is supplyed with the camera, but the edges of the fisheye are very visible, and the protection has to be removed in order to get a better picture. In my opinion the fisheye for HD video format should not be round but a little streched. I havent yet found a fisheye that I can say is better for this handycam.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good lens for the price I bought this lens a year ago in upgrading from SD to HD since I couldn't justify buying the Century lens when it would only be used on a camera that I was borrowing. It captures a full 180 degree field of view, just like the Century. It has pretty good glass, there's some fringing on high contrast edges but that's bound to happen at extreme wide angles. I also had to modify the sunshade by cutting off the two side tabs since they would get into the shot. The one thing that really disappointed me was that on the XH A1, one simply cannot zoom in to get rid of the vignetting (which is pretty harsh, covers the entire sides) AT ALL. The vignetting stays the same size while the image gets less and less wide, as well as defocusing. I have to scale up the image in post to 115% to minimize the vignetting. This could cause problems if shooting in 60I, but in the F modes the loss in resolution isn't too significant. The overall quality isn't completely up to par with the Century, but it's well worth the (much lower) price for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice And Wide Really good fish eye (or convex lens) the only problem i have had with it is there is a slight ring around the picture when i am filming (even with the hood off), but you can get really close to the subject with no problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks Beautiful - Does not fit my camera This is made so the Lens recess into your camera about 1/2 before the threads make contact.
