Achieving life-size (1:1) magnification, this macro lens is ideal for the close-up photography including, but not limited to, nature, technical, medical or product applications. Taking photos outdoors like a 50mm 1.8 is my plan while not necessarily macro, and not portrait. A go to lens is what I have in mind. Is this a reasonable expectation?
Asked by: Alex
I don't really understand your question but if you're looking for a 50mm lens, this is not it. This is a 100mm lens that can be used on a full frame camera. Using it on a crop sensor camera would yield an equivalent 160mm. This lens, along with being a macro, may very well be used for portraiture.

I'm noticing there is no aperture ring. I have a pentax k1000 and I'm wondering how I could change the aperture with this lens. That option isn't available on older film cameras of course. Any solutions?
Asked by: Patrick
For those wondering the same, I found this alternative. It is on B&Hs site. "Rokinon 100mm f/2.8 Macro Lens for Pentax K. Has good reviews for other mounts, I'm assuming the same for the K-mount.
