Rated 1 out of 5 by from Traded up, then damaged my speakers Bought this to convert digital audio out from a Viera TV to RCA audio. Didn't work, as the audio is Dolby encoded (that info buried on pg 47 of the TV manual, not listed in TV specs online). Traded up to more expensive model that does Dolby decoding. However, when changing channels or whenever digital signal is lost then restored, a very loud pop is sent to the speakers. This blew the foam surrounds on both my Advent speakers. They were old, so I guess it is to be expected, but digital electronics should not send high-amplitude pulses capable of damaging equipment. I will be returning the item and letting Gefen know about this problem - I am definitely not happy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product I use it to connect my TV to my small Bose speakers. My TV only have digital audio output and my speakers only accept Analog audio signal (RCA). My TV is connected in HDMI to a set top Box. Here is the schema: Fibre --> HD set top Box --> HDMI --> 1080p TV --> toslink (digital) --> GefenTV converter --> RCA cable (analog) --> Bose Speakers

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy way to connect new TV to old stereo Are you trying to connect a modern flat-screen TV to older stereo equipment, and just discovered that your new TV doesn't have the familiar red and white (RCA) audio jacks? No problem - just get this Gefen Digital to Analog Audio Adapter! It comes with an optical (TOSLink) cable and a variety of AC plugs for use in various countries. It will also work with devices that send audio via Coax connections. (I was also happy to learn that the item is made in Taiwan). B&H Photo's price on this item beats that of many competitors!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Know what your application requires This unit worked perfectly to convert audio signals from my digital TV to my older audio system--but only analog channels. I contacted Gefen and their customer service referred me to another unit (GTV-DD-2-AA) for my application. With it installed, I can now listen to the audio signals from both analog and digital channels on my Sony/Bose surround system. The adapters work very well--as long as you have the right one for your needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works very well I needed a DAC to connect a new DVD player to my 30-year-old Carver preamp, and this had gotten good reviews. It's tiny and straightforward to hook up. It's irritating to have to spend more on cables and DAC than the player cost, though. You can get a cheaper DAC but THD on this one is very low, and it seems to be made very well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Product Had to order this to hook up an older Onkyo receiver to my new Panisonic Plasma TV. Works perfectly as described and was a snap to install once I figured out that I had to take the plastic caps off the digital audio cable. Only gripe is that it is incredibly flimsy feeling to the point that I worried it was going to crumble just plugging the cables into it. Not a big problem since it simply just sits behind my entertainment cabinet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exactly as Advertised! I am an old school 2 channel stereo guy and I just purchased a 1080p HDTV. I had my old TV hooked up to my stereo via the headphone jack and RCA connectors. The new TV only had optical out for audio and I was bummed out to the point of returning the TV for one with RCA audio out. This component solved the problem! The only negative is that the instructions don't tell you to take the plastic caps off the optical connectors. Fortunately enough people had the same problem so my solution was on line. The added hassle could have been avoided with a simple instruction.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product. Works with Apple TV2 Simple set up and just what I needed to get ATV2 audio working with my older HDTV which only has analog inputs. Even came with a toslink cable. No popping or hissing sounds that other comparable products seem to have. Happy with product quality ...
