Easy, convenient, and sleek. Only downside is the long(er) lag time. I'm a fan!

This is the first pocket size camera that I've ever had. I take it with me everywhere I don't take a larger camera. People tend to shy away from refurbished things, but this camera works perfectly. I'm really glad I got it, and I loved the price.

Fast, good photos but not very compact

I bought this camera refurbished to replace a broken Panasonic Lumix FX35. I considered the Lumix pretty much a perfect travel camera and was looking to replace it with something similar. I couldn't find that same camera again and the newer comparable Lumix compacts were either too expensive or lacked certain qualities my old camera had. Essentially, I bought this refurbished Nikon as a temporary camera until I could save up for something more Lumix-like. But having used the camera for on a trip to Asia, I'll say this camera might last me a lot longer than I intended. I'm going to review this camera based on features that are important to me, partially in comparison to the old Lumix. Then I will list some stand-out pros and cons. First off, the criteria were that my camera had to have: - Wide lenses (the Lumix was 24mm at its widest; this Nikon is 27mm) - A good UI (I never had to fight the Lumix UI and, although it did look antiquated, did the job just fine; the Nikon UI is fairly simple, with some annoying quircks) - A compact form factor (it has to travel with me when I travel, ideally on me, so I can get spur-of-the-moment shots. The Nikon is not as complex and only fits in my back pocket properly; quite a bit thicker than ultracompacts on the market) - At least 720p HD video (to record interviews and short clips for YouTube videos; the Nikon is perfect for this and even has stereo sound) - Good macro focus (the Nikon's 2cm beats the Lumix's 5cm on paper, although food shots were more effective with the Lumix) I'd have liked to have: - Exposure bracketing (for tone-mapped images and for iffy shots; Lumix had three-shot bracketing but the Nikon does not) - ISO control (the Lumix let you specify the ISO of every shot in 'Normal' mode; on this Nikon, you only limit the ISO range between 100-400 or 100-800, changing ISO shot-to-shot is not convenient, although possible). - Rugged construction (you never know what might happen, where you might drop it; for the Lumix and the Nikon feel very sturdy) Stand-out Pros: - Stereo H264 video at 720p at 30fps (great quality video at smaller filesizes) - Light, at 156g (just throw it in the bag) - 7x optical zoom (which is great sometimes) - The five-way control, which also works as a scroll-wheel (this is genius) Cons: - You can't turn the camera on just to view photos without the lens extending - The no flash setting sometimes does not stay between shots or when you turn the camera off - The flash is placed where your fingers might block it while holding it (this actually helps sometimes, because of the above point) - Is quite thick for a compact, at 25mm (although not too much) - You have to go through the menu to change modes, although the UI, with a scroll-wheel dial and lots of buttons, is very intuitive Overall, I'm really happy with this camera, mostly for its intuitive (and familiar) Nikon UI, good image quality, good video, great macro and fairly compact build. That it doesn't have a touch-screen is also a relief. It doesn't afford you with any manual control (not even easy ISO selection), but takes great photographs both in Auto mode and using its SCENE modes (which give you some control). If it had been just a tad thinner, I'd have recommended it quite a bit more for travel. Otherwise, especially if you buy it refurbished, the camera is excellent value.

I'm a home Inspector, take about 2 to 300 photos a day. Need a camera that I can operate with one hand, easy to use and that the Battery last longer than most. All of my previous cameras used AA's this was the first that has a Preparatory battery - Nice job on the Battery. Very easy to use. From day on the Shutter stick open, takes a pretty good photo, fairly easy to use and for the Price, I would recommend it.

Refurbished CoolPix S6000

My wife wanted a small camera to throw in her purse and always have with her. Considering she and the kids have broken 3 other digital cameras in the last 4 years, an expensive camera didn't make sense. The camera works fine and takes decent quality pictures. I have large hands, so the buttons are not friendly and holding it feels like holding a thick credit car, but it works for my wife.

love the speed of this point and shoot

For me, this is a toss in my purse so I always have it with me camera. I have three, very active boys and I love the super fast startup time with this camera. In fact, this purchase is to replace the same model that I have had for 18 months or so before my youngest son sat on it! It is not the best camera in low light, but I really like the fact that it is ready to shoot almost as soon as I press the on button, and that when I press the shutter button it takes the picture then and there - no crazy delay that makes you miss your shot entirely. For me, it is the perfect toss in my bag, always have it ready camera. I was dissapointed to see that Nikon had discontinued it and didn't really replace it with anything with a nice fast startup like it has, but I was thrilled to find a refurbished one here at B&H.

This product its very high quality thank
