    Canon LP-E8 Reviews

    LP-E8 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.2V, 1120mAh) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 659.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Is A Canon Battery When it comes to batteries and electronic I try to stay with the OEM manufacturer. Over the years I have heard many horror stories regarding generic batteries damaging electronis. I am not saying all generic batteries are bad I am just saying that I prefer OEM.Reading the reviews on the generic battery replacement for this battery many state the battery charge display in the viewfinder shows the battery is charged and then in a minute the battery is dead. That is not the case with this battery. And of course the price difference at B&H Photo between the generic battery and the Canon Battery made it an easy choice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Only the original will do I use the LP-E8 with my Canon Rebel T2i DSLR, for a mix of video and still work. I own two batteries, one for active use and one to keep on the charger. While there are many knockoff OEM Compatible batteries, some with higher listed mAh capacities, none of them last as long as the genuine Canon part. I bought an Opteka battery rated at 2000 mAh, but it lasted less than half the time the Canon battery does, and it would cut out without warning, instead of displaying a battery low message and shutting down the camera properly. Although I was hesitant to pay the brand name tax for a battery, the Canon logo on the LP-E8 denotes significantly higher quality than imitators.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Battery Pack a good value! The battery pack (LP-E8) arrived on time, and took about 2 hours to fully charge. I used it a few days later to shoot about 200 pictures at Longwood Gardens. I did not need to change batteries, although most of the shots were taken without the flash. It worked very well. I decided to go with this pack, although there are cheaper ones available, but I was warned away from most of the cheaper models because even though they are cheaper the tend not to last as long. I found no drawbacks with the product. We are planning a longer vacation later this summer, so the extra battery pack will come in handy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Failed when Pearstone Didn't This battery came new with my T2i, which I immediately purchased the Canon BG-e8 battery grip for. Honestly, funds were tight so I bought an additional Pearstone battery to go with it since the BG needs two. I have always used the BG, and charged the batteries at the same rate and on a recent trip my camera just died unexpectedly. After charging both batteries, I was dismayed to see the battery indicator still on low. I removed the BG, and installed each battery into the camera singularly. The Pearstone read full charge, the Canon was still empty. Moral of the story is just because it's name brand doesn't neccesarily mean better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stick with the Name Brand for Batteries Bought several additional batteries to get me through a multiday video shoot with a Rebel T2i. With 4 batteries, 2 chargers, and a pistol grip I never had an issue. I technically had 5 batteries, but the fifth battery was an earlier 3rd party brand purchase that had 1/4 to 1/3 the operating time for video. For other camera accessories (the pistol grip, for example) I am a big fan of using 3rd party accessories (the pistol grip, for example) when they perform well, but after that experience, I decided to go with the Canon batteries. Even better, I feel like the price has dropped by almost half in the last year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best performance Battery I purchased a Canon Rebel T5i a few months ago and recently added a second LP-E8 Lithium-Ion Battery. I selected the original Canon 1120mAh Battery as it provides the best performance with my Camera. I know that I can count on my Canon Battery to provide the longest operation time with my Camera and that it will continue to serve me for a very long time. In the past i thought that i can save a few dollars by buying other brands for less than half the price, but the over all toatl cost of ownership turns out to be higher. Keep in mind that if you pay half, you get half of the performance (if not less). Other brands provide shorter operation time and shorter life span.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Battery, Surprising Life. I've had this battery since i'd purchase my camera, which was about 3 weeks ago. I use a Canon Eos Rebel T3i, and this battery has lasted much longer than i'd expected it to. I've Shot for about an hour at the very least every day since i'd made my purchase, and the day i'd recived this camera and the battery, i'd charged it once, and so far, it's still going without the need of a charge. that's at least 21 hours of battery power on one charge, and it's still pretty much full of life. I'd say this camera battery is quite fulfilling to it's expectations. Upon ordering, the shipping was free, and it had arrived within 24 hours, so it had arrived in a very timely manner as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Real Canon Batery I have used fake/clone/generic LP-E8 batteries in the past. They were good if you wanted to save money (back when these Canon LP-E8's were going for 80-100 bucks) but nothing really compares to a real Canon Battery. I'm glad that the price has finally dropped on these real LP-E8s. You can get a whole lot more shots on the real battery than on the fake batteries. somewhere around two to three times more shots than the generics. One of my generic batteries lost the ability to recharge recently and so I was glad to find a real LP-E8 battery selling on the B&H site for only $ dollars. This battery is great exactly the same one that came with my T2i when I bought it a couple years back.

Is this an original or knock off
    Asked by: Anonymous
This is an original Canon USA product. We do not sell knock-offs under the brand name of the original OEM. In situations where we offer 3rd part manufacturer products, they are succintly and explicity labled with whatever the 3rd party brand name is.

How long does the average battery pack last after repeated use? 1 year?
    Asked by: Anonymous
The average battery pack after one year of repeated use should allow you to take between 400-500 photos or 1 hour of video.
