Don Zeck C3 overview

  • 1Description

The Don Zeck Lens Cap is unique in the world of lens accessories. It is the first lens cap designed with an ergonomic handle to help you both place and remove the cap. The advantage of this is obvious.

This cap can be used with a long hood in place. During such times, it can be difficult to use a traditional "snap on" lens cap. Using this particular, cleverly designed cap means that you can set up your long lens (that has a deep hood) and leave the cap on. Yet, when it comes time to actually shoot, all you need to do is grab the neat little handle, pull the cap off and you're ready to shoot. No more having to remove the hood or awkwardly reach inside the hood to try to unhook the cap.

The cap is held in place using six "O" rings that create a tight, perfect fit. In addition, the unique handle will compress to an ultra thin 3/16" when you store your lens in its case.  The "O" rings never touch the lens surface and will not damage your lens. This cap is a thick design and will guard your optics from the damage that we all fear with long (or short) expensive lenses.

Cap can be mounted on the lens while the hood is in the shooting position or in the stored position
Handle allows a firm grip on the cap so that it can be easily installed
Can be used with or without the factory lens hood
An interesting alternative to the traditional "sock" hoods that come with longer lenses

    Don Zeck C3 reviews

C3 Lens Cap for the Canon 200mm f/2.0 IS, 300mm f/2.8 IS, 400mm f/4 DO IS (Black) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from i recommend this for Canon primes easy to use and better than some of the reviews stated, yes it can come off if not installed right but so much better than the stupid canon covers, if you have spent upwards of $5000 grand on the lens get this its a must.the only drawback is what do you with it when its not on the lens, it didn't fit my pocket i'm sure i will come up with something to solve the problem

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Peace of mind The cap fits nicely and stays put. It is well made and I expect it will last for many years. While the handle is necessary, it prevents you from standing the lens on end with the cap on and the hood in the reversed position. Pretty expensive for what it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb design and build The supplied lens cover that Canon ships with the 300mm/f2-8 II IS lens works well and is convenient to remove and install when the lens shade is in the stored position. Does not allow to be utilized when in the installed position leaving the front element protected by only the lens shade. Dust and other elements can find their way onto your glass. The Don Zeck lens cover solves this. This CNC machined hard plastic lens cap with the six O-rings secures nicely onto the front of the lens with just the right amount of grip. I wish I had discovered this when I got my big lens 18 months ago. Considering the cost of one of these super telephoto lenses, the price of this lens cap (and the peace of mind it provides) is very affordable. I will tell any photog that I meet up with that has a big lens about this product. Thanks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent product, but quite pricey. This lens cap will be great when on safari in dusty environments, easily fitted and removed, and well made. As Don says, compared with the price of one of the lenses that it will fit, it's not expensive and certainly gives front element protection without the weight and bulk of the OE products. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must-Have This lens cap is great! I used to struggle with the leather bag and drawstring, until I gave up and simply left the hood mounted, hoping its depth would offer some protection for the front element (against scratches, yes; against dust and sea-spray, no). Now, I have added security. Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from At Last Finally able to walk around with the 400DO. I can now handle the 400DO hand held and take on nature hikes comfortably. A great lens is now getting used frequently instead of living in the case. The handle slips over your hand while the lens is in use furthering the utility and ease of use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy it as soon as you buy the lens or as soon as possible I bought it about a year after I bought the lens. It has changed my behavior. I know longer worry about putting the camera and lens in the trunk of my car. I can not believe that Canon makes the telco cap when they could make something like this. Buy it when you get the lens

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic lens cap Purchased for a 300/2.8 IS after disliking the LensCoat hoodie and the canon hood that comes with the lens. The zeck cap is quick to put on and quick to remove, rigid, and of excellent quality. I would easily recommend this to anyone with a super tele.
