APC 750 overview

  • 1Description

The Smart-UPS X 750VA Rack/Tower with LCD (120V) from APC provides power to your important computer components in the event of an electrical outage. The Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) contains a battery which continues to power computers, monitors and other components if the electricity is cut from them. An LCD status display provides information including remaining battery life, load capacity, and event notices. The battery is hot-swappable and easy to replace. An audible alarm alerts you of events like power outage and low battery. The UPS also delivers battery-powered AC and features a rackmountable form factor and all the hardware needed to mount it.

Intuitive LCD Interface
Provides clear and accurate information in multiple languages with the ability to configure the UPS locally with easy to use navigation keys.
High Frequency Design
Reduces or eliminates bulky transformers resulting in lighter units for ease of handling.
Auto Recognition of External Batteries
UPS recognizes when external battery packs are attached and automatically adjusts runtime.
Predictive Replace Battery Date
Dynamically provides the month and year when battery replacement is recommended to aide in long term maintenance planning.
Green Mode
Patent-pending operating mode that bypasses unused electrical components in good power conditions to achieve very high operating efficiency without sacrificing any protection.
Energy Meter
Provides actual kilowatt hours of usage for energy conscious users.
Pure Sine Wave Output on Battery
Simulates utility power to provide the highest degree of compatibility for active PFC (power factor corrected) servers and sensitive electronics.
Single Switched Outlet Group
Single outlet group that may be controlled separately from the UPS for discrete reboot of hung devices, sequenced on/off and non-critical load shedding.
High Online Efficiency
Reduces utlility costs, generates less heat.
EPO
Attach the device to an Emergency Power Off (EPO) system so that power can be turned off in an emergency situation.
SmartSlot
Customize UPS capabilities with management cards
Cold-Start Capable
Provides temporary battery power when the utility power is out.
Temperature-Compensated Battery Charging
Prolongs battery life by regulating the charge voltage according to battery temperature.
Scalable Runtime
Allows additional run time to be quickly added as needed.
Rack/Tower Convertible
Protects the initial investment in the UPS when migrating from tower to rack-mount environment.

    APC 750 reviews

    Smart-UPS X 750VA Rack/Tower with LCD (120V) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality I have a Dell Studio XPS 435T/9000, and because of its 'unique' power supply, requires a pure sine wave output on battery backup. I've had all kinds of APC UPS products, but they all had stepped up sine wave output, so I had to purchase this model. It works perfectly (as has every other APC product I've ever had). Many options and some require reading a page or two of the manual. Once everything is setup, you never have to worry about it again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from High pitch noise (normal?) Pros: rated for long backup times, 2 outlets are separate (group 1) for sequential/switched purpose, option add more batteries. Cons: 1) High freq. noise - noticeable in quiet room. 2) One large heat sink inside is tilted (box dropped?), plastic front bezel does not click in place - it barely hangs on the metal APC enclosure, with the sheet metal at the hinge being manually bended to allow at least that. It is off by 2 mm, however seems to be safe enough for use (if you do not move it around too often). 3) No easy way to get into advanced options (if enabled at all in this model). I did not use Power Chute - maybe the software is able to activate additional options (like the sequence switch of outlets).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid monster This thing is impressive. It weighs a metric ton, and completely fills its two RU of space, front to back of the rack. It requires additional brackets (included) to support itself. So it was a back-breaking endeavor for one man to install. That being said, it performs. It is quiet, runs cool, and looks pretty awesome. The battery is replaced through the front panel, so no crawling behind the rack or unmounting anything. Plus, it is supposed to be hot swappable, so you can (in theory) replace the battery without shutting anything off! Lots and lots of features that i will never use. A web interface that I will never look at. Pretty blue lights. No operating manual, so I'll probably never know just how many features I'm ignoring. After three days of operation, I can't really speak to reliability. But I have high hopes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from APC Smart-UPS X 750VA I have been selling a ton of these lately and all my customers seem to love it. I have received nothing but positive reviews and no returns on this. "Smart, efficient, and easy to use" is the most common response I have gotten from my customers. I have sold this to offices with only 10 employees all the way to Enterprise locations. The only negative comment I hear was "There is no way to turn off the display on this unit".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from dependable! I was getting frequent 5-10 second brown outs in my community and it was causing havoc with my mirrored RAID disk array when my PC would loose power; would take 3 hours to rebuild and verify data integrity. My PC has a newer Active PFC power supply and would not work with my older UPS which did not output a pure sine wave. I also usually have one or two other dedicated servers I use for software development.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product - No Complaints The phone sales staff was very helpful in deciding what unit to purchase. I own other APC products with which I am very satisfied and this is no exception. Minor complaints: There is no way to turn off the display on this unit. The power management software interface, which opens in a web browser, does not load as fast as the PowerChute Personal Edition, although it has much more information.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great UPS Unit This unit is being used to save the new Crestron audio visual upgrades that we recently had installed. As the facility does not have good power the UPS is there to protect our new investment and has done a wonderful job of late.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great design and versatility! Can't beat the design of these! Slim form factor and very versatile being either horizontal or vertical with the included feet. Entry level but lots of bang for the buck!
