veho VCC-003 overview

  • 1Description

The Veho VCC-003 Muvi Micro DV Action Camcorder is a tiny camera that's perfect for extreme sports and for using with social media. It's budget-friendly and offers novel mounting options including the Extreme Sports Pack for hands-free action recording. Ultra compact in design, the Muvi Micro might just be one of the smallest camcorders out there today. But aside from its undeniably slender nature this Muvi camcorder comes with something that most others definitely do not: an attachable universal clip. Much like the clip that comes with many smart phones. Attach the Muvi to your clothing, bag, or anywhere else you can think of. In addition to the universal clip the Muvi is also compatible with an optional extreme sports kit from Veho for mounting to your handlebars and other opportune vantage points.

Hand-held or mounted, the VCC-003 captures 640 x 480 standard definition video with its 2MP CMOS sensor. With the 2GB microSD card that's included with the camera you'll be able to start shooting video from day one. Should you desire more recording space the Muvi Micro can accommodate cards up to 8GB in size. What perhaps is coolest of all is the Muvi's ability to obey voice activated start/stop commands, allowing for truly hands-free recording. When the fun's done for the day simply recharge the internal lithium-ion battery using the mini-USB connection and your computer. And with PC and Mac compatibility you'll be able to share your videos with friends and family alike, with ease.

    veho VCC-003 reviews

VCC-003 Muvi Micro DV Action Camcorder is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Pleased I use this product on duty as a police officer and so far love the functionality. The video is clear, audio is just as good. Video in low light is not good at all, but with a mag light flooding the area it makes up for it. I love how the clip rotates, offering the ability to mount this small camera in a number of places. When plugging it into the computer it loads right up, no problems. Videos are uncompressed and the file sizes of the AVI's climb rather quickly. I opted to put in a larger SD card for busy shifts. Only reason I rate it 4 out of 5 is because of the low-light problem, technology only gets better though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Wonderful Rocket Camera I used this Muvi camera in my high power rockets. It worked very well and the video retreived was very useful as well as thrilling to view. The camera is rugged and the sound operation was useful. I could power up the camera, assemble the rocket and place it on the launch pad. Since there are delays in launching while making electronics status checks, range safety verification, etc., the camera would shut down until the noise of launch would waken it. It survived numerous accelerations to 12G's during launches. Rocketry is dangerous and what goes has to come down. And one flight did with a 51G impact but the camera didn't survive. It's a great camera for this application. The cost versus performance is incredible!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Camera for a Great price! I am a Deputy Sheriff with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. I supervise 9 security officers and these cameras have been a valuable asset to their job function. Not only are they able to audio record but the video give it a whole different prospective. We have have them for over a week and they have proven their weight in gold. I highly recommend this to any law enforcement department or security company. Thanks B&H for offering them at a reasonable price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 4 stars...not bad for the price I'm a police officer and bought one of these to use at work. I was really impressed by B&H (shipping, etc) and would buy from them again. I didn't want to spend alot of money for one due to the possibility of breaking or loosing it. I bought this one and so far I am satisfied with it. It's very easy to use, and mine came with a 4gb card (not 2gb as advertised). In short, it's not bad, and worth the money, but you do get what you pay for. The video is OK, but the sound is horrible. If I wear it on my shirt pocket, my voice is so distorted you can't understand what I'm saying. If I wear it on my belt, the field of vision is too low, but the audio is a little better. It's not good at all in low light, so have your flaghlight handy. You absolutely have to light up any area you want to record. The quality is good, and it comes with everything you need (plus a little more). Again, its worth the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good buy I use this camera in my job as a police officer. The video quality is good. I recommend a 8-gig or higher micro SD card for more recording time, though, especially if using this for law enforcement. The microphone is sensitive (probably for the voice-activate option I never use), which may be bad for some, but I like it as it catches the admission and threats suspects make under their breath. I recommend this product to law enforcement officers, especially ones like me whose agency does not yet provide them. The negatives are that this is my second one (but first from this seller). I recommend a protection plan, which is why I came to this seller. If you're looking to win the Oscar, the slow adjustment to low light and sound quality will leave you wanting. But if you're looking for something to simply help document, this is a great buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing micro camcorder After seeing all the cases of on-the-fly videos on You Tube, made possible by most wireless phones including a built-in video camera, but noticing that even a cell phone being held in front of you makes it obvious that you are making a recording, and that some law enforcement personnel don't like being recorded, even in public, and even if you're not interfering with their activity, I decided to see what was available in a small, unobtrusive video camcorder. So I ordered a Veho VCC-003 Muvi Micro camcorder, which seemed pretty amazing based on its description. And, for $, it wasn't the end of the world if it turned out to be a turkey.I have had this micro camcorder for two weeks now, and it's amazing. You can walk around in public with this device clipped to your shirt pocket, and nobody realizes that you are making a recording. And the unit is so small and inexpensive that now I just leave it in my glove compartment, available if needed.Recording time on a single charge was about an hour and fifteen minutes, which the provided 2 GB micro SD card was able to accommodate. The recording quality, although standard definition video, was excellent. Low-light performance was pretty good, too. Audio was passable, although it's too bad there is no way to shut off the audio recording capability, as I understand that in some states an audio recording, even in public, can be considered by an unhappy police officer to constitute wiretapping. Well, no such statute in California, where I live. Finally, an advantage to living the once Golden State. The unit comes with a micro USB-to-regular USB cable, and also a micro-USB to USB adapter. Charging is via the 5-volt USB cable, which is also used for downloading the recorded video. The video files that the Muvi generates are massive, at 400-600 MB, and it takes forever to transfer, since it's USB1 speed, not USB2 speed. However, a SD card reader, costing $10, took care of that problem. That is, remove the micro SD card from the Muvi, insert in the reader, and then transfer at USB2 speed to your computer. The unit will NOT record while plugged in, so you can't leave it connected to your computer or even a USB power supply and record at the same time. But for my application, that's not a problem. The CD that came with the unit had only PC .exe files, so was useless since I have a Mac. But as soon as I connected the Muvi to my Mac, it immediately and automatically recognized the camcorder, and uploaded the saved video files without difficulty (albeit slowly if you use the provided USB1 connection).I did some point-of-view videos with the Muvi on my car dash, and they turned out great. I even tried clipping the unit to my steering wheel cover, but that video looked pretty strange even time I had to make a hard turn.Inserting and removing the tiny SD card has to be done using your fingernail, but once you figure out the drill, it's not a problem.I was so impressed with this unit that I bought a second one, to keep in my motorcycle. I also obtained two low-profile cigarette lighter USB power supplies, to allow me to re-charge the unit when I am away from my computer. An amazing, extremely small and unobtrusive camcorder. Nice to know that I have these units available, if ever needed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Useful and easy to operate Although the quality of the video and sound will not be good enough to either enlarge the picture much beyond 6 inches wide onscreen or make out someone whispering a few feet away, it is quite good for recording meetings that are face to face with normal speaking voices. I'm taking this with me to India and Thailand and see how it can handle my normal rough thing if you have large fingers or no nails, you will need a pin or small finish nail to be able to get the micro-sd card in or out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bang for your buck This little device is great for what it is intended for. That being able to take short (2 hours) videos of just about anything. I have used it at the shooting range to critique my skills, while playing racquet ball, and just goofing around. The video quality is better than I expected from this tiny (the size of a mans thumb) device. However it does not perform well in dim/low light. My only complaint is that it does not come with multiple mounting attachments.
