  • 1Description

The Manfrotto 504HD Head w/535 2-Stage Carbon Fiber Tripod System combines the innovative and stylish 504HD Fluid Video Head with the 2-stage/3-section carbon fiber 535 Tripod--providing the perfect intersection of affordability, range, and weight with smooth, precise control. This compact and versatile system was designed with both video and DSLR rigs in mind, and provides the ergonomics and support called for by today's small crews and solo event shooters. Also included is a 39" ballistic nylon bag, with special stitching to fit the 504HD head.

504HD Fluid Video Head
The 504HD's patented Bridging Technology allows for a wider top plate and longer sliding plate that add stability and balance to a set of state-of-the-art professional features. A newly designed counterbalance system includes four presets--from 0 to 16.5 lbs--enabling proper balance for camera loads up to 16.5 lbs, while 3/8" threads in the top plate allow attachment of monitors, arms, and other accessories directly to the head.
535 Tripod
Thanks to carbon fiber single tube and magnesium die castings, this tripod provides great stability and load capability in a lightweight, ergonomic, and easy-to-use design. Along with its low minimum height of 16" (with head) and high maximum of 72", the 535 offers an angle selector for adjusting leg angles with precision and ease.

    Manfrotto 504HD reviews

504HD Head w/535 2-Stage Carbon Fiber Tripod System is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 42.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Silky Smooth I outfitted my Videographers and myself with these tripods after suffering bad tripods for years. My requirements were simple...be tuff, versatile, priced right and servicable...this tripod nails it on all accounts. The height range on this thing is great...really short to really tall...perfect! The carbon fiber legs are light...so is the head...it doesn't kill you to carry it around all day. The head is smooth and delivers counterballance for a wide range of cameras. We primarily use them for our Sony EX3's with shoulder/battery/receiver mounts. The case is good...keeps things clean and protected. The light built into the bubble level is great for low light situations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 504HD Head w/535 Carbon Fiber Tripod - I am very pleased to have made this purchase... Light, strong, easy to use - very easy to rotate camera on ball, to hold fast, to balance according to built in level, with light. The first day I mastered it. I am doing feature and short length dramatic films; the smooth flow of the ball, the adjustable flow make moving shots easy to set up and to exact. My camera is lightweight, Sony NX5U, but the camera can hold camera's as heavy as 16 pounds. I hope to buy a jib and I am told that the Manfrotto 504 HD will support the weight of a lightweight one. I have only had this item for three weeks, so I cannot speak to its durability.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This tripod & head combo rocks! The tripod is sturdy and extends to a good height allowing me to shoot over the heads and directly to the speaker in a conference room. I did have to loosen the screws at the pivot points of the legs to make it easier to set up, break down or move around. No big deal, I do this on all of my tripods. It is a bit on the heavy side especially with the 504HD head but over all, it is just what I was looking for. Which brings me to the head. Very nice construction. It pans very smooth in all directions. I have used it with a Canon XHA1, Canon 5D MkII and a Canon 7D. Needless to say, you would be well advised to set it up for your rig prior to your shoot to enjoy all that it has to give. If set up correctly, you should be very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 504HD Head w/535 2-Stage Carbon Fiber Tr Shooting most every weekend require setting up equipment, tripod, monitor several times. The weight of my old tripod legs and head are heavy. This new carbon fiber and head are just what the doctor ordered. Strong, lightweight that perform well. This move to carbon fiber is long over due. The cost is just right. It has been used now on a few jobs. It took me only one night to fine tune the camera weight to the head for good balance for pan and tilt. I love the light up level bubble. The caring bag will protect the system for years to come. Cons? none.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Manfrotto 504HD Head w/535 2-Stage C We use this product in a news environment. MMJ's (One-man band) use this combo. Compared to other set-ups we have this one gets the most use. It was so nice I had to get another. The head is great, smooth, pan/tilts. The drag is very nice. The tripod is sturdy and can hold much more than the 12 pound camera set-ups we are using. System is quick and easy to set up for use. My only complaint is the legs get loose and need to be tightened every couple of months to keep them from flopping around. If you are buying for MMJ I would highly recommend this combo. It is light and stable!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fluid, Stable, Dependable, & Affordable I love this head and sticks. I had been using the 501HDV with aluminium legs and a center column, for years. Do not get me wrong, that tripod system has worked well for me in most cases, but it was time for a serious upgrade. In film school I had the privilege to work with O'Connor tripod heads and legs. In case you don't know, O'Connor makes THE BEST tripod heads and legs anywhere. (to be fair I haven't worked with all of the different tripod brands). They are widely used on film sets all around the world. They are also 10,000-20,000 dollars.... For a bit over $1000, you get a similar fluid feel of an O'Connor, a large head and base-plate capable of supporting heavier camera set-ups, and a rugged build for most of the head. Of course the fluid motion isn't perfect, and lacks a large number of settings for the fluid drag level. (O'Connor's that I have worked with have 10 settings, from 0-9, 9 being extremely tight and hard to move. Keep in mind that those O'Connor heads are built for sometimes hundreds of pounds, thus the many settings. This head, however, is MUCH smoother than my 501. The worst part of the 501 was starting and stopping the movement. The fluid motion during the shot was fine, but landing on your next composition smoothly with the 501 is hard to do. The 504 does that much better, and is perfect for small cameras. The tripod legs are amazing. Sturdy, yet light carbon fiber that can drop to baby-leg height, and stand up to over 6'4. I'm 6'4, and when this guy is all the way up, the camera is well over my eye-line. That versatility is crucial. I have 1 complaint, and the reason for 4 stars. The build quality of the tilt and pan locks especially, but all of the knobs, is not as sturdy as the rest of the head. I have a friend who owns this system, and his pan lock broke off fairly easily, he said. I can see that being a frustrating issue in the future. Other than that, for the price, this system is amazing, and it's well worth the money if you need a smooth, light-weight, sturdy head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my Professional Use Many of the jobs I shoot require that I use a long lens to capture a stage/podium from behind the audience. This tripod is easily leveled at the head, buttery-smooth in pans and tilts and the heavy-duty construction of the head gives me the stability I need. Lightweight unit overall thanks to the carbon-fiber legs. Highly recommend this. The price may be higher than you'd like, but it will serve for many, many years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best I've owned I had the same Manfrotto tripod for nearly ten years and decided it was time for an upgrade. What I liked most about this tripod was the weight (8lbs) and its height range (16 - 72). It came with a nice case, which beats carrying it by the legs. The head is great and highly adjustable. The illuminated balance bubble is an awesome feature especially on night shoots. The only complaint I have is adjusting the legs to go 16 is not well designed. My fingers get pinched a handful of times during a given shoot but I'm learning to deal with it.
