  • 1Description

The Manfrotto 504HD Head w/546GB 2-Stage Aluminum Tripod System combines the innovative and stylish 504HD Fluid Video Head with the 2-stage aluminum 546GB Pro Video Tripod--creating an ideal combo of affordability, stability, and smooth, precise control. The tripod features a 75mm half ball, and the sticks have a 75mm bowl for quick and secure leveling. This compact, versatile system was designed with independent video and DSLR shooters in mind, and provides the level of ergonomics and support required by today's small crews and one-man bands.

504HD Fluid Video Head
The 504HD's patented Bridging Technology allows for a wider top plate and longer sliding plate that add stability and balance to a set of state-of-the-art professional features. A newly designed counterbalance system includes four presets--from 0 to 16.5 lbs--enabling proper balance for camera loads up to 16.5 lbs, while 3/8" threads in the top plate allow attachment of monitors, arms, and other accessories directly to the head.
546B Tripod
This aluminum two-stage tripod combines stability and strength with affordability. Reaching a maximum height of 60.6" (154cm), the 546B is capable of supporting up to 44 lbs (20kg). Its spiked feet come with rubber overshoes, allowing setups on both smooth floors and uneven surfaces, while a newly designed ground-level telescopic spreader keeps the legs exactly where you need them.
75 mm Ball Leveling
The Head features a 75 mm half ball, that interfaces with the 75 mm bowl of the tripod legs. This allows fast leveling and and a sturdy pan tilt platform.

    Manfrotto 504HD reviews

504HD Head w/546GB 2-Stage Aluminum Tripod System is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic tripod THE USE: I use this tripod with my Canon 5D II with a host of accessories. I also plan to use it with the Sony PDW-800. THE BAD: - plastic locks that hold legs together easily fall off and get lost. - extension lock on legs come very very tight and take a lot of effort to loosen. - mid-section spreaders are a bit of a pain to orient when trying to fold tripod back together THE GOOD: - comes with a very good amount and variety of base screws - head is very sturdy and easy to balance - spring tension in head is effective - reasonably good maximum height - very light weight for its size - carrying bag is sturdy - tension controls on head are very good For its price and maximum weight capacity it is a great value product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice tripod It's maybe a little fragile, yet reminds me of the Sachler I used for years at the network. Works great with my JVC 750 and it's light. The included bag and light up bubble are thoughtful additions. The drag could be smoother, but for $$, it gets the job done. For the people that complain about the leg adjusters being too loose or tight, they do give you an Allen wrench to make the adjustments. I like the bowl adjustment for quick leveling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best of the Best There is nothing this tripod doesn't do. I put on a 10 ft jib with 20 lbs counterweight and the it didn't seem to phase this beast of a tripod at all. The internal counter balance system is a thing of beauty- never will I have to worry about my camera tilting all the way down and falling off. Even the bag is a jaw-dropper. I'm trying to find things wrong with it, but I can't. A solid piece of equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even better than expected! I am using this with my Z1u, mainly for stock video and marketing businesses. It is a sturdy tripod and the head is way better than I expected. No bumps, jerks or anything. Very much like the expensive pro equipment I used to use. Did not expect the middle spreader with it, as I ordered it with the ground spreader ... This set-up will not disappoint you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent for the Money We use this tripod a lot in most of our productions. Construction is solid and it does take a beating pretty well. Fluid head is nice and smooth although not as smooth as I'd like. It still gets the job done. Legs are solid. I do have problems with the locks loosening up somewhat and they need to be tightened from time to time. Not a huge deal though. I'd say the best thing about this tripod is it's build quality. The worse thing about it is the way the control arm is designed. I'm not sure why it has issues, and it may be just this particular one I received, but the control arm will bind and get stuck in a position while you're trying to unfold or fold it back. You have to hold it just right in order for it to collapse right. Which if you're in a hurry could pose a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never expected it to be this good I'm used to using 502's and 501's. When I bought this for my company I was excited. After I took it on the first shoot I was pleasantly surprised with how amazingly smooth it is. Get this product, you won't be sorry!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tripod and Head! This Tripod/Head system is lightweight yet sturdy. It's range of reach is useful and the legs lock securely and slide smoothly. The head is robust yet smooth and the fluid drag controls work well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Tripod The 504HD head is absolutely amazing! I had been using a 503HD and wanted just a little more performance, and boy did I get it! The ability to dial in pan and tilt drag is awesome and it provides a nice amount of resistance. The quick level capability of the 504 is great for those instances when you need to move quickly. Not necessarily a performance matter, but the tripod looks amazing. The red accents match nicely with my Canon L-series lenses. No complaints from me so far!
