The Manfrotto 504HD Head w/536 3-Stage Carbon Fiber Tripod System combines the innovative and stylish 504HD Fluid Video Head with the 3-stage/4-section carbon fiber 536 Tripod--providing the perfect intersection of affordability, range, and weight with smooth, precise control. This compact and versatile system was designed with both video and DSLR rigs in mind, and provides the ergonomics and support called for by today's small crews and solo event shooters.

504HD Fluid Video Head
The 504HD's patented Bridging Technology allows for a wider top plate and longer sliding plate that add stability and balance to a set of state-of-the-art professional features. A newly designed counterbalance system includes four presets--from 0 to 16.5 lbs--enabling proper balance for camera loads up to 16.5 lbs, while 3/8" threads in the top plate allow attachment of monitors, arms, and other accessories directly to the head.
536 Tripod
Thanks to carbon fiber single-tube and magnesium die castings, this tripod provides great stability and load capability in a lightweight, ergonomic, and easy-to-use design. Along with its low minimum height of 16" (with head) and high maximum of 85", the 536 offers an angle selector for adjusting leg angles with precision and ease.

    Manfrotto 504HD reviews

504HD Head w/536 3-Stage Carbon Fiber Tripod System is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from highly versatile I use this tripod for multiple video applications: live event coverage, commercial production and corporate videos. I love its extreme range of height, from above a crowd's head to a few inches off the ground. I like the flexibility to accept 75mm or 100mm heads. The head that came with it is very smooth and has a good range of tilt/pan drag. My only concern is the locks on the legs. So far they've been rock solid, but I'm concerned that they could become loose over time. I prefer a collar lock that can be tightened until I'm satisfied with its positive connection. But given the price and versatility, it's a fantastic value. When it's time to replace my other tripods, I'll get more of these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect It's a bit cumbersome and heavy but the carrying case that comes with it makes it easy to lug around. The system itself is flawless and I am never going to feel uneasy about my camera ever again. The peace of mind is worth it. The system is a bit expensive, but the durability and quality speak for itself.Easy pan and tilt. I connected a slider (Pocket Dolly) and had no issues --- you should use another light stand if you're planning to to slider it across all the way. The slide could have been places vertically and the tripod system had no issues. The legs are tall, very tall. I could put my whole body under the tripod. The system can go very low too. It's versatile and convenient.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fall to your knees gorgeous / functional This will be an essential tool for my event video production when ultra height clearance is needed. Just wish I could afford 2 of these at the moment. I'm 6 ft. tall and can stand (not slouch) underneath this beauty and clear the adjustable leveling pole by an inch. Incredibly it lowers down to about a foot with legs collapsed and stretched out. I don't mind that it has weight. It gives these gorgeous sticks rigidity and I've lifted heavier tripods in the past so no big deal. A very very very attractive tripod with small red accent metal rings incorporated tastefully into the stealth carbon fiber legs. Your clients will be impressed with its appearance...I am and all the rest of the reviewers below say too. The Manfrotto black bag is an excellent addition with its red accents, durable appearance, and oddly compact after this tripod is unleashed to its maximum height. I was blown away! I can see having 2 of these positioned tightly against each other at an event where human heads / arms are obstructing your shot for a wide and tight frame composition. You'll need a step stool of course but there's nothing stopping 2 of these copulating because there's no spreader. The plong plate that comes with the 504 is different than the 501plong I bought several years ago. The mount push pin is stationary so it mounts only one way on my NX5U. The 504plong and the 501plong are obviously different. A great investment this package is to say the least. Thanks BH and Manfrotto!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and Sturdy This system is delightful to shoot with. The maximum height is remarkable, and it also spreads quickly to below knee height. Extending the legs is fast with the snap locks (faster than twist lock systems) The 504 is decent size and weight, but you have to crank the drag all the way up to get usable tension. The only thing I don't love about this tripod is the feet. The pads unscrew easily over time to reveal the spikes. Wish there was a locking mechanism for them so you wouldn't have to worry about scratching floors...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big and Solid... Although I mostly shoot DSLR I bought this system for video production use with my HVX. I needed some solid sticks that would support an independent leveling fluid head. The legs are great and extend into the outer reaches of space. I think these are best for in studio or capturing longer distance shots in an auditorium. I originally thought these would be good to use with my DSLR set up, but I don't think be taking this on any spontaneous weekend field shoots. Pan and tilt are smooth and solid. Solid sticks for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy and smooth The 504HD head replaces my 501 head. The 501 is an excellent head but the 504 is even smoother for pan and tilt. I like the lighted level although it is a little small. The head gives you several methods of stabilizing the camera to prevent drop. The 536 tripod is extremely strong and sturdy. It provides a quick method for leveling the head, and set-up is a breeze.I can stradle seats in a theatre with no problem and I attain heights of about 7 feet when needed without shake. All in all a winner for any video camera, especially the larger, heavier professional models.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge, sturdy and awesome I have been wanting to get a better tripod since I have been using cheap tripods I started my career with. Time to upgrade. I also noticed that most tripods dont extend to great heights, unless they have an adjustable neck, but this causes a lot of gitter. I wanted a long leg vixen that would be able to see across the tops of heads in a crowd if needed. This tripod does exactly that. To be honest, I didn't anticipate that it would be so tall that I actually now need a ladder to use it when fully extended. Not only does it have the height I wanted, it is sturdy and made extremely well. And of course the 504HD head is also smooth and has really enhanced my shots. The added bonus is the release plate, in which I also have Manfrotto shoulder rig. So with the same plates on both, I dont have to waste time unscrewing the plate to switch over. I can just release and go.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SOLID! First of all, this is a very solid platform. The smooth motion of the head combined with the rock-solid tripod really helps with smooth camera movement. The only surprise was the weight of the system. It weighs what the specifications say it does but I had imagined something lighter because of the carbon fiber construction. Not a bad thing, just different from what I was expecting.
