Great Filter, Great system

I just purchased this filter for nature photography. It arrived yesterday and I used it this morning. It's wonderful! I just bought into the Lee 100 filter system, and I'm impressed. This filter, the Big Stopper, is glass. While the Lee website indicated there can be some color issues, I'm not seeing any. I will eventually want the Lee Little Stopper, the 1.8, 6-stop filter to complement my kit. I've uploaded a photo from this morning's shoot, taken at Great Falls Park, Virginia. Enjoy!

question

I have an 18-55 mm lensand a 44-300mm lens, do I need any additionalparts to use this filter?

Yes, you will need the LEE Foundation Kit http://bhpho.to/18XBQeS, as well as adapter rings for each of those lenses in order to use the LEE Filters Big Stopper. For the 18-55mm lens, you will need a 52mm adapter ring http://bhpho.to/1thGNJ3, and for the 55-300mm lens, you will need a 58mm adapter ring: http://bhpho.to/1rYWx0R

will this be usable with a canon 16-35mm f4 on a full frame camera? thx
Asked by: Rob B.
Yes, I have both a full frame Canon and the 16-35 f4 and it works well. Vignetting has not been an issue for me, but I only use one filter at a time.

question

Hi:I have a question: Does the LEE big stopper (100*100) fit nikon 14-24mm lens?It appears to be not large enough?

No. 100 x 100 filters will be a bit small for a lens like the 14-24mm.You would need a custom holder like this:Formatt Hitech 165mm Lucroit Wide-Angle 2-Slot Filter Holder and Adapter Ring for Nikon NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G Lens KitB&H # HIFH6.5QThis filter will be comparable to the Big Stopper in degree of correction:Formatt Hitech 165 x 165mm ProStop 3.0 IRND FilterB&H # HIPSIN3.06.5 Mfr # HT165PS10

Can this filter be mounted in a matte box that accepts 4x4 filters for video purposes?
Asked by: Marc
Unfortunately, the LEE 100 x 100 Big Stopper is a 2mm filter not made for cinematic filter holders or matte boxes; those use 4mm filters.

question

what size of this fits the Lee Wide Angle Hood w/Two Filter Slots?
Asked by: Jonny C.
The LEE Filters Lens Hood - Wide Angle - with TWO Filter Slots would accommodate this 100 x 100mm Big Stopper 3.0 Neutral Density Filter.

question

When buying a Neutral density filter, do you buy an adapter size for each lens size you have? That way the filter becomes interchangeable? For instance one size for a 24mm-80mm and another size for a 24mm-120mm.
Asked by: Anonymous
For the Lee Big Stopper, you would need to get a filter holder such as the LEE Filters Foundation Kit (B&H # LEFK). You would then need an adapter ring to attach the filter holder to your lens(es). The size of the adapter ring would be dependent on the filter thread size of each of your lenses (any lenses with the same size filter thread could use the same adapter ring). http://bhpho.to/1lERSTT
