  • 1Description

The Blackmagic Design Intensity Shuttle is a 10-bit HD/SD video capture/playback device that supports USB 3.0, and allows you to capture 10-bit HDMI or analog video directly from a camera onto your computer for professional editing or mere playback. With a neat, compact design, the Intensity Shuttle is very portable and easy to set up. As the input and output connections are on different sides, you can simply plug the unit in line with your existing cable setup.

Supporting HDTV 1080i/59.94, 1080i/50, 720p/59.94, 720p/50, the Intensity Shuttle allows easy and instant switching between HD and SD video standards. Additionally, using the USB 3.0 interface eliminates the need to compress visual data and thus saves on CPU processing power; this allows your CPU to solely focus on HD real-time effects. The video capture/playback device draws power from the USB 3.0 connector itself, and eliminates the need for a dedicated power source.

The Intensity Shuttle for USB 3.0 is directly compatible with various editing applications, including such as Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, Fusion, and Nuke. It's compatible with Mac, Windows, and Linux systems.

    Blackmagic Design BINTSSHU reviews

Intensity Shuttle for USB 3.1 Gen 1 is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 154.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Intensity Shuttle for a Webex Meeting It works! The important thing to note for using it with Webex is that the shuttle does not change the size of the video. Webex requires 720p, max, so one needs to feed the shuttle 720. But otherwise, it's very straightforward. It takes an HDMI out of my camera and transforms it to a USB 3 signal. That's what I wanted it to do, and it does. Also, it was necessary to download the latest driver updates, which is what Blackmagic suggests. It didn't work until I did. And lastly, I needed to hot connect the USB 3 into the computer while Webex was open, otherwise it couldn't see the Blackmagic. Once Webex saw it, it was available as an option for both audio and video.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Intensity Shuttle I am nearly totally pleased with this product. My business involves live internet streaming for important businesses and wedding clients throughout the continental US. The Intensity Shuttle has performed better than expected, delivering a razor sharp image with excellent sound quality to my valued customers. Set up was easy. Though I'm dealing with a minor odd intermittent audio disturbance, this does not transfer through to the final streamed product. The unit tends to get a little hot but nonetheless provides reliable service for over three hours of continual use. I will happily keep putting this very cool tech toy through its paces.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from We aware on this item !!! I purchased this item about three weeks ago and since then I've tried to make it work in 3 different machines: An intel dekstop pc running Win 10, a high end AMD desktop running Win 7 and a HP Laptop with 16 GB running Win 8.1, all of them with USB 3.0 ports, with no luck at all. The reason? Well, it does not just requires an USB 3.0 port with the most updated drivers, it actually needs a very specific chipset in your machine. I have to say, it seems like if you are lucky and you already have the compatible hardware, it works very well, otherwise you'll only be able to have it installed but it wont work to capture or stream anything. My current status: Waiting for a RMA from B&H in order to return it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent value for the price Using the Shuttle on a USB 3.0-capable laptop to capture 1080p30 HDMI output and then editing with Premiere Pro CS5 for output to Bluray/DVD The product works well for my purposes. I will say that the drivers for USB 3.0 can be tricky to load if you do have an NEC USB 3.0 chipset. But once that is done, you should be able to use this device to capture both 8/10-bit uncompressed HD video for editing. It's really great! The only other unfortunate thing is the fact that it must be used on USB 3.0, which means I can't use it on my Macbook Pro to capture. But easy enough to move files between the Win7/Mac laptops.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work on high-end computer BlackMagic states you need at least an X59 motherboard for this device, with USB3. I have an X79 ASrock motherboard, 32GB RAB, the CPU is i7-3960x. The motherboard comes with 2 built in USB3 ports. All at the very high end of the workstations spectrum. After 2 days of trying everything, I can definitely say stay away from this device. It is either the most finicky piece of garbage I have ever seen, or its simply defective. Either way, BlackMagic lost a client. By the way, going to their website, you can read articles about what type of motherboard and USB3 you have and how it can affect you being able to work with their device. Really? Seriously? You think people need to care about whether they have a NEC based USB3 or a Texas Instruments one? The whole point of being an external USB device is that people dont need to worry about anything except having that USB port. Go back into your lab and dont come out until you realize your device needs to fit 100% of USB3 owners. If I could give this zero stars I would, but the minimum is one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from DON'T BUY IF YOU NEED THE ANALOGUE INPUTS this product is an excellent choice if you have all the knowledge and third party products which will make your analogue signal compatible and stable when digitizing from analogue to digital. but if you are buying this under the impression that this is all you will need to digitize analogue materials you are wrong!!! this product is obsolete in its analogue capabilities without third party extensions such as TBCs and Frame Sync machines. If you are looking to only capture and or stream digital material through an HDMI might as well go with another product that will provide a better software. Thats the other thing, the media express software provided is very flimsy and requires a lot of in-depth understanding of the program and signal inputs as well as knowledge of your machine internally in order to operate at it's best. Overall a slick looking device but it is cheap for a reason...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Note: No Win 8 Drivers I bought this in conjuction with a MSI GT70 laptop with the intention of using the pair for streaming. Win 8 was the only option on the laptop. I asked extensively at B&H if they would be compatible. All I could get was that the Shuttle should work with any USB3.0 as long as it wasn't Dell. When I got it home it didn't work. I looked for Win8 drivers and there were none. I called Black Magic and was told that there was no ETA on their release. With some difficulty I removed Win8 and installed Win7, which had to be purchased. Shuttle now works fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well, but it took some effort I am using this to transfer old VHS recordings to digital. I wanted good quality, so I chose this rather than one of the less expensive devices available. I have a process down to get the videos converted, and the end product is good. It took a fair amount of reading and trying various things to get here, though. If you are converting old tapes, most likely you can't just plug a VHS or old camcorder into this and simply record. The old VHS tapes are far from perfect, and this hardware requires a broadcast quality signal. In order to get around this, I needed a Time Base Corrector. These are not cheap. I ended up picking up a used one elsewhere, but B&H has a few options as well. Additionally, I think the video file created is really meant to be the first step in the digital process. So far, all I am doing to them are deinterlacing and then compressing them.
