question

When you do recording, can you also hear the sound that you record? How good is that sound?
Asked by: Artak
Yes you can monitor through headphones, just as Julian V. has stated. You can set the monitor level independent of the recording level.

question

How good this machine is as a music player?
Asked by: Artak
I have put both .mp3 & .wav files from pre-recorded CD's onto the R05 to be able listen to them in the car and at a social gatherings. The playback power referred to by Scott B. below depends on the level of the original recording. Files from a CD source have plenty of volume depending on what you play the device through. Live recordings depend on where you set the recording level and I have many that playback with sufficient volume. I would also agree with Karen K. below that the interface can be confusing but it is possible to organize files into folders thus providing smoother navigation to what you choose to play. My use of this device is mostly for recording and playback of those recordings of live music, rehearsals, and lectures. Some of those recordings have low levels due to proimity to the source but they are still adequate for review and study. I have taken Voice Memo files of lectures off of the iPhone and transferred to the R05 as well. I still have my old R09 but the R05 is a great improvement in ease of use and especially with battery replacement. It is an excellent device.
