LensCoat LCBL3X reviews

3 Axis Hot Shoe Bubble Level is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 94.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pass on this one I should have listened to some of the other reviews that pointed out that the level only slid part way into the hot shoe. I thought that it might be a problem with their cameras but I had the same problem with my D810. Not going all the way into the hot shoe makes me wonder if its flush with the plane of the camera. The other issue I have is that viewing from above the lower level is hard to see. If I would have tried it out in the store I would have not bought it. But for what I paid for it, I don't want to go to the trouble and expense of sending it back. So I'll probably sand the mount so that it slides all the way into the hot shoe and keep it for a spare.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hot shoe bubble level, is really cool! I was using the built in camera level on My Nikon 800, but light conditions, and reflections off the viewer plate made it almost impossible to use. I used the cube and it was an instant success, highly visible and perfect leveling made easy. Sturdy construction and will withstand drops. It would have been nice if there was information that the cube does not fit on the entire shoe. It slides on about one third in and remains snugly there while you level your camera. Push it in too far, and it may be difficult to take off after leveling. Still worth the price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from don't buy this one This level is not level. the bubbles are very small and never touch both leveling guide lines & therefore it is just about impossible to read. The leveling tubes are not parallel with any of the sides or base & so cannot be used to find the level position. The only plus is that it fit easily into the flash shoe - but was not level with the shoe. Someone threw quality control out the window when they made this. It is also way too big for its intended purpose. I tried to remark it to indicate the correct level, but eventually threw it in the trash.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast, Accurate, Inexpensive! The 3 Axis Hot Shoe Bubble level by LensCoat is an easy product to recommend because of it's simplicity and well designed. I've used many types of leveling devises over the years but this product fits all my fast pro shooting needs, especially when I'm in the field. There's no need to lug around a tripod with a built in 2 axis level any more. Lencoat's hot shoe level is simple to mount and get the camera level in a hurry. Flipping the camera from horizontal to vertical and leveling it out is equally fast and accurate. Having worked with it for several months, I'm very satisfied in recommending this clever product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wildly inaccurate A bubble level can be tested for accuracy by switching its orientation 180-degrees; it should indicate the same either way. This one is way off on all three axes. None can be trusted to indicate true level. I should have returned it for credit, but I probably would have paid more in return postage than it's worth. Needless to say, I don't use it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Grain of salt First I checked this level against a construction level that I know to be true. Two of the bubbles were true the third was way off. Not worth the trouble of returning for what I paid for it and I did find a solution. I found the level spot and put a mark in the center of the bubble with a permanent marker so now I know where level is. The second thing is it would be nice if it fit a little more snug in the camera hot shoe. It feels like it might get bumped off if I’m not careful when I’m in the field.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Nothing bugs me more than seeing a photo with a crooked horizon. This bubble level solves that problem for any photographer in the field. A must have for landscape shots.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Is good but... Not so easy to fit in the hot shoe. Poor construction. Expensive for the poor quality.
