Rated 3 out of 5 by from cable too short! Old OS can’t read newer file system! This product works as promised. it’s a bit short if you are connecting two MacBooks. I had to turn them back to back like battleship for it to reach. OS 10.6.8 can’t read newer operating systems hard drives. I connected my newer Mac that crashed to the older one. The older one cannot read the newer file system. So, if you’re trying to do this, don’t bother. It could maybe work the other way but have not tested that. Good for other uses. It’s not the cables fault. But it still didn’t solve the problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works perfectly I had an old ext.HD that only uses 6 pin, but my Mac has 9 pin. Problem solved with this adapter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great cable, but a little short This 400 to 800 firewire cable is good, but at 1.5' it is a little short for connecting a device to your computer. I didn't realize it when I bought it, and it's no reflection on the product itself, but now that I have it I know next time to get at least a 3' cable for anything!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's good for a starter cable Yah, so far so good. It seems to work. I have only used it for a very brief period of time. The length is pretty short though. If you need any bit of a reach than I would get a longer one. It is good for the price of the cable though.
