Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good! Before purchasing the cable I needed to connect my Presonus Firestudio Project music production audio interface to my windows 7 computer, I went searching for reliability and value. All of the reviews I read on Pearstone products, and this specific product were glowing, and had positive things to say both long term and recent customers. Despite the simple packaging, the product feels very well made. Thick and sturdy cable, super simple. Connecting it to my Sonnet Allegro 800 firewire pcie card proved successful, and is still working accordingly despite only having had it for about 2 weeks now. I have confidence this cable will last for many years, taken with care.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Won't connect your digi 002 to imac The cable may work fine for most applications, but my 2013 imac wouldn't recognize my digi 002 firewire audio interface nor my Glyph firewire 400 external hard drive. The 400 end of this cable plugged into my devices, and the 800 end into the Thunderbolt adapter. The cable is well-made. I don't think it was broken. I finally got my devices to work when instead of using a FW 400 to 800 cable, i simply used an adapter that changed one end of my FW 400 cable to an 800 connection.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Need FireWire 800 to 400!!! I have an Mbox Pro 3 and a MBP 2012 so I needed a FireWire connection to merge the two different connections. Every place in my area (local-retailers) wanted $25-30 bucks for this type of cable which is far too much. The price I paid for this cable isn't even 4 times what local retailers are asking, great buy very happy with product. The 800 end of the cable doesn't fit as tightly as the 400 side but it fulfills its purpose and for under $ bucks you shouldn't have any complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Firewire is still needed I got this cable because I needed it to connect my computer to my video converter. My mac only has an 800 pin and the convert has a 400 pin. Why so many devices can't just use the same versions, I don't know. Either way, this cable bridged the gap. Seamless flow, and now everything works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Have No Fear The price made me skeptical but this cable did not disappoint. I needed it to connect my Lacie portable hard drive which has Firewire 800 ports to my Macbook which has Firewire 400. The cable is thick and sturdy and the plug ends, though plastic on the 800 end, are solid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Solid Cable I use the product to connect an APOGEE DUET interface with a MACBook Pro - firewire 400 out of the Apogee - firewire 800 into the MAC. This cable is solid, thick and not easily disconnected like my other cable. For the price, you cannot go wrong!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Incresed Transfer Speeds I use this cable to connect my Drobo External hard drive to my Dell computer. I was having trouble with my USB 2 connection and this worked perfect. Not only corrected the connection problem, but also increased my transfer speed.
