It will work technically but the speed booster will give you some vignetting at the wider angle.

question

some reviews have said that the OS/VR switch doesn't work, leaving the lens in VR mode all the time. apparently the problem is multi-platform. in my case i use Nikon d3200. please advise - thanks.
Asked by: Anonymous
That is not true. With the Nikon versions of the lenses the OS switch can be turned on and off. It's a very good lens.

question

Hello,I am trying to decide on another lens for my Nikon D5200: Either this Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM, ORThe Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM Lens for Nikon I wonder why the 17-50 costs more than the 17-70 and it would seem to me,that the 17-70 is a more versatile lens.So my question is: Why not buy the 17-70 over the 17-50 if the Lenses are of equal compatibility / performance with the D5200?Thank youLarry
Asked by: Anonymous
While there is a bit broader of a focal length with the 17-70mm f/2.8-4 http://bhpho.to/Uj7qj6 compared to the 17-50mm, the 17-50mm varies in quality due to there being a constant f/2.8 aperture. The constant f/2.8 aperture even at the longest focal length of 50mm will allow you to keep your lens wide open and is a faster lens overall, especially in low light.

I use this lens on a d500. When I'm not shooting, it sounds like the focusing motor is almost constantly running. The battery seems to drain faster than with any of my Nikon lenses. Is this my imagination or could I have a faulty lens?
Asked by: Richard
It sounds like the Optical Stabilizer is active and possible your camera is on focus tracking , make sure your camera is turned off when not using
