question

will this lens fit my Canon 5D mark 3?
Asked by: Anonymous
This version of the lens is for the Sigma mount. That being said, The Sigma 8-16mm lens for Canon is also designed for APS-C size sensor cameras, and is not suitable for use on a full frame camera. You would not be able to use it with the Canon 5D III. The widest (non-fisheye) option available for Canon full frame cameras would be the Sigma 12-24mm lens (SI122445C).

Is there any way to improvise the attachment of a circular polarizer filter on such a 'buxom' front element?
Asked by: John
Yes. On ultra wide lenses you need a filter holder system that is contoured to the exact shape of the built in hood. For this particular lens consider FotodioX WonderPana 145 Core Unit Kit for Sigma 8-16mm Lens with 145mm Circular Polarizer Filter BH #FOW145EKS816

question

Will this lens work with the Canon 6D? The chart shows the Mark 3 and the 7D, but doesn't specify 6D.
Asked by: Anonymous
While it is correct that the lens is designed for a APS-C camera, you can mount it on a full-frame camera. You will get severe vignetting from 8-12 mm and still noticeable vignetting at 14 mm. You can crop out the vignette, the rest of the photo will have the perspective of an 8-16 mm lens. I am not sure though that I would buy it exclusively for FF camera use.
