    Toa Electronics ER-1000 reviews

ER-1000 Personal Public Address System is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Needs work, but I still want another one Went I first got it, I was sure I put the batteries in firmly, but it wouldn't turn on. I removed the batteries, put them in again, and THEN it turned on. Still don't know why. The waistband is comfortable, but the headset is awkward to wear. The strap is too small, apparently made for people with a smaller head than mine. I have to wear it at a different angle than suggested and not use the strap, but it rests securely enough on my ears anyway. The speaker works great **as long as you don't bend over to look at the speaker** while you're using it. If you do, it makes a loud feedback noise until you get your head back up. It takes practice to remember to keep your chin up and manipulate the button and volume knob without looking down.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from For outdoor yoga class I purchased this for a yoga instructor that gives free classes in Kissena park, Flushing NY. We did get some feedback when the speaker points at the microphone and when she cupped her hand near the mic when she was demonstrating a breathing technique. Keep the speaker pointed away from the mic! I did have some difficulty with the batteries. I purchased rechargeable batteries that did not work in my unit. I did get some RadioShack batteries to work and the unit performs fairly well even with a wood chipper running about 100' away. The chainsaws did overwhelm the maximum output with eight batteries installed. It does work with the aircraft from LGA airport when they're passing overhead.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Convenient PPA for small groups We use the ER-1000 for tours and outdoor workshops. They are easy to use and the sound is as good as the other portable PA systems we have used. The ER-1000 runs on AA batteries that are easy to replace versus our rechargeable PA systems if the battery runs down. This unit is lighter weight and straps around your waist, which is convenient if the lecturer/speaker is moving around. Although I like wireless mics, they do not always work flawlessly if you go to different locales, so the wired mic is more dependable. Our speakers bureau liked them so much, I had to order 6 more.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Average performance PA This an OK portable PA system with some weaknesses: There is no feedback protection so you cannot really go to the maximum volume. The sound is a bit too high pitch; not enough mids and lows; for that price one could have hoped for a better speaker-driver. On the up side, the main unit and headset are sturdy and well designed. In conclusion, with better sound and feedback protection this unit would be a winner and worth the price asked.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It serves its goal. The sound is good, however if you recline yourself it makes a terrible sound It is not very comfortable to wear both the unit and the mic It has an old retro look that I did not like, Since it was a relatively expensive product in its genere, I fee that it is not a good value for money
