Impact LiteTrek Overview

Whether it's fashion, wedding or portrait photography, the best way to achieve professional-looking results in the field is by adding flash to the ambient light. The Impact Mini LiteTrek (LT) Battery Pack provides DC juice to your Impact LiteTrek 4.0 portable flash or select Nikon and Canon flashes with optional power cords as well as Quantum flashes without adaptation.

Simply plug the DC cord which comes with the LiteTrek 4.0 into Outlet A on the Mini LT's top panel (Outlet B is for other brands). The panel features a "fuel gauge" indicator to display available power. The LiteTrek 4.0 will give you an impressive 650 full power flashes or 3,500 1/64th power flashes on a single 4 hour charge. Recycling times are from 1.0 - 3.5 seconds. Unlike other battery systems, the Mini LT's battery separates from the power module with a simple "push and slide" action which is reminiscent of a camera quick release. You can pack additional batteries alone without the extra weight of a second or third full battery system. Besides reducing the weight this also reduces the cost; the battery alone is less than ½ the price of the complete system.

The Battery pack set comes with a separate power module, battery pack, multi-voltage charger and a case with a shoulder strap. With most compatible flash units, an additional flash cable is required to connect the battery pack to the flash.

Scott Kelby Testimonial, the World's #1 Bestselling Author of Photography Books

"Being able to use a small, lightweight, super-portable pack like this just makes things so much easier. Being able to have studio-quality lighting on location, without hauling loads of gear around makes a big difference for anybody who thinks "less is more". Used this rig last week for a dusk shoot, and it worked like a charm and refreshed much faster than I was expecting."

Big and powerful

Using to power my Quantum flashes while my Turbo 2x2 went back to Quantum for new batteries. I have two quantum flashes plus a cable to power my Canon 40D or Canon 5D. This battery is almost as fast as the Turbo 2x2 but it is larger. I was expecting it to be smaller, I think it's too big to clip to my belt. Just like the Turbo it has a shoulder strap that failed the first week. So only four stars, I will rig up a real strap. It does have a battery that can be swapped out quickly. I have not tested how many flashes I can get out of it yet. Used it for a few days on it first charge and it has lasted over a week of light use and testing before it even dropped the first of 4 LED. It has very bright RED LED's. The dedicated charger seems adequate. The rest of the unit seems very well built. For the price you get a very powerful power source.

Just what I needed

I bought the Mini lite Trek about a year ago and have not had any problems what so ever. It's easy to use, just connect to a flash and push one button to turn on. So far I have only had to charge it three times, so I'm not sure how many flashes per charge. I'm very happy with it and would recommended it to anyone. I have let a friend borrow it and the only bad thing he had to say about it was that it's kind of heavy. I don't think so, it works good for me.

I have used these Impact batteries for the past two years. They are reliable and are twice the capacity of other batteries on the market. I now own 5 of these batteries and rely on the lithium-ion technology for good shelf live and exceptional power.

I bought this battery as a replacement of the one I had previously used with my LiteTrek. My previous battery had just gotten old after a few years of use and this one makes my light work like new again.

Ordered TWO of these, both were faulty

I ordered one of these two weeks before a wedding I was shooting recently. After reading the tiny 4 page manual carefully, I plugged the unit in and looked for the red or green led that signifies charging status. Almost immediately I heard a buzzing, electrical transformer type of noise, then a loud pop, then the telltale smell of burnt electronics. I immediately unplugged it and returned it. Having ordered some accessories with it (extra battery, etc.), I decided to order another unit, figuring that my chances of receiving a second faulty unit were pretty low. When I received the second unit, I re-read the manual to make sure I hadn't missed anything (I hadn't) and carfully plugged it in, not knowing what to expect. This time, nothing happened. No noise, no pop or smell, and no led telling me the device was full or charging (the manual states an led should come on to let you know of the unit's status). Not wishing to risk a second faulty unit on a paid job, I've since returned this unit and the accessories and ended up using AA batteries for my main flash.

Great battery back (I have one for sale)

I bought two of these packs. Great stuff. Works really well. I have one pack that I used twice and which I'd like to sell for a fraction of what I paid for it. Contact me at*. I'll pay the shipping! Great pack! Worth every penny!

I have several Canon 580EX II flashes that Im trying to power with a Impact LiteTreck. Its fully charged but it dose not seem to work if the AA batteries are not in the flash. It recycles faster but it just docent seem to replace the AA batteries. Is this normal? I was hoping to replace AA Batteries with the LiteTrek. I just think Im doing something wrong but would like to have some information because I don't have a manual handy.
Asked by: Andres
A set of 4 AA batteries must be used in the 580EX II flash in order to use the Mini LiteTrek Battery Pack. Those AA batteries would power functions that the LiteTrek battery will not power, such as the LCD display.

Will this battery pack power other Impact brand 400w monolights (I have the Astral 400)?
Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately, this battery is only compatible with the Impact LiteTrek flash heads. A compatible battery for the Astral 400 is the Photogenic ION, B&H # PHIIBCK. Please see the image below.

Is this 100% compatible with the Olympus FL-50R flash? Your web site shows it as an accessory for that flash, but the description doesn't say the same. Thanks.
Asked by: Anonymous
all you would need is a power cable that is compatible with the olympus flash. It shouldn't be difficult because the power output seems pretty standard. on another note, I have owned mine for a year now and I have yet to see a difference in battery life over the standard batteries.

can i use this power pack with my sunpak 120j or sunpak 383 flashor what type of power cable, is it a quantum turbo cable ?????
Asked by: stafford m.
I'm not a 100% sure on the Sunpak flash system. The Mini Lite Trek has one port for a Quantum Turbo cable and works well with both my quantum flash and my Canon flash using a quantum cable. I would look at this cable from Paramount. You can also look on the quantum site for their cable. This Paramount PM-CS4 Connecting Cable is a 6' coiled power cord for connecting Quantum Turbo or Lumedyne Cycler power packs to Sunpak 411S, 383, 422D, 433D, 433D/AF, 444D, 305R, 30DX, 30FD, 360X, AP52, 4000AF, 120J, Auto Pro TTL, and Hasselblad D/40 flash units.

We bought 4 of these from you guys a while back and they are great. My question is, we are on off season for about 3 months and I want to discharge the batteries. Do I just turn them on and let them go, and do they need to be connected to the flash bulbs>
Asked by: Anonymous
Since the Impact Mini LiteTrek (LT) Battery Pack is lithium ion, there is no need to drain the battery when it is not in use. Lithium ion batteries do not require the maintenance that Ni-cad, NiMH or lead acid batteries require. Avoid completely discharging lithium-ion batteries! If a lithium-ion battery is discharged below 2.5 volts per cell, a safety circuit built into the battery opens and the battery appears to be dead. The original charger will be of no use. Only battery analyzers with the boost function have a chance of recharging the battery.
