General Brand 62WIDUVP overview

  • 1Description

The Tiffen 62mm UV Protector Wide Angle Mount Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. This filter is especially useful when photographing at high altitudes or around bodies of water. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

This filter features a slimmer profile mounting ring, which is ideal for use with wide angle lenses. It does not have front filter threads for stacking filters.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

Absorbs some ultraviolet light and reduces bluish cast of daylight.
Clear filter provides no additional coloration or contrast, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

    General Brand 62WIDUVP reviews

62mm UV Protector Wide Angle Mount Filter is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works fine, but too thin for lens cap This is a nice UV filter. It seems sturdy and works as advertised. It's also nice for wide angle lenses as it's so thin, only 3mm thick. Most others are 4mm or 5mm. However, in my opinion is has a major flaw. Because it is so thin, (and has a beveled edge on the front), I am no longer able to use my lens cap. It constantly slips off. I use a pentax K10D. All my pentax lenses (and I have many) use a similar design for the lens cap to attach. There are two small spring loaded areas on the inside of the lens cap that you must depress. Once depressed, you insert the cap into the from on the lens and release. Once released, these will grip against the inner threads that most lenses have for attaching filters. This filter is so thin that is does not have the exterior threads. This would also mean that you are unable to attach a threaded circular polarizer or a threaded warming filter, etc. Unfortunately, this problem renders the thing useless to me since I like to keep my lens cap on to keep the UV clean and I also like to shoot with a circular polarizer frequently. If you don't mind not using a lens cap, or have no intention of using other filters, this may be exactly what you're looking for, particularly for lenses that are wider than 18mm.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from no front threads Order this as a lens protector for a wide angle zoom. The disadvantage is that there are no front thread for a lens cap to grap. I did not think about that when I ordered it. But the price is right and I am keeping it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just right My last filter prevented my 18-250mm lens from getting scratched so I replaced it with this wide angle version which works much better at the widest angles and no cut-off of my image. I like it! Good clarity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As advertised I use this on a 20mm lens with a Full frame Nikon, no vignetting at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice filter Not much to say, really, it's a lens filter and does its job as needed.
