    Pelican 1520 reviews

1520 Case with Foam (Silver) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 107.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Size, Perfect Fit, Perfect Price ... When talking to my peers about cases, they all say, B&H... you can't go wrong. This case was perfect for my audio equipment, pick-n-pluck foam was exactly what I needed. This was my second pelican I purchased, so I knew what I was ordering. The latches are a bit tight, but they will get easier over time. My first Pelican was the same way. The water proof feature is a plus to safety of equipment. When loading equipment into my truck during rain, I never have to worry about my cameras and control boxes. Pelican has a name that is trusted by the military and professional level. I always say, good nuff for the military, good nuff for me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock solid and versatile I don't need to elaborate on or justify Pelican's reputation for sturdy cases. Let's just say 'sturdy' and 'environmentally sealed' together with 'well engineered'. The 1520 is great for my U/W photo equipment and the 'pick'n'plug' foam worked perfect for adjusting the interior to my needs. If you don't need a water-tight case, you may find the latches too hard to open and close. But if you're in wet or moist environments, that's what you have to live with. A provision for a shoulder strap would come in handy, though...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Case! I use this when transporting my DSLR equipment and it works great. I wish I bought a bigger one so I could fit all of my gear, but that was my bad on measuring the size. With this case I case I fit my Canon 5D mark II body and my 50 D body, (2) 580exII speedlights, my 70-200mm lens, my 100mm Macro, my 24-70mm Lens, and my Canon flash transmitter. Everything thing fits very snug and is VERY well protected. The pluck and pull foam was pretty easy to use (i did use a knife to help a little). I'm definitely buy another one of these (that's bigger) for when I'm traveling with all my equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size for DSLR kit First I ordered the 1550, it was too big and weighed 12 lbs. Then I ordered the 1500, nice case but it was too small. Then I ordered the 1520 and it was perfect. Here's what I have in mine. A Canon 5DII with a 24-105 on it. A 16-35 and a 100-400 plus 4 Singh-Ray rectangular filters plus in a circular cut-out the monster lens shade for the 100-400 and inside it the 24-105 lens shade and 2 lens cloths and 4 compact flash cards plus in another square cutout 4 batteries, 2 electronic releases, the 16-35 lens shade and the tripod ring for the big zoom. You could probably get away with another camera body instead of all this stuff in the square hole. This is an easy overhead bin case and I sat on the darn thing in our zodiac no problem. One small warning, you got to be tough to open it, the latches are really stout.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent case, one small issue. These cases are great and I'd buy one again without hesitation. The pluck foam however leaves a lot to be desired. I was super plucking out the shapes I needed, I was cautious as to not damage any of the surrounding cubes of foam. The thing is, once you start plucking, the other perforated cubes won't stay attached long. I really just wanted to write this review to share the solution that I've found. (See my photo). I used torn strips of gaffers tape to wrap around the remaining sections of foam (all sides are wrapped so there's no more worry about foam detaching.) This solution has served me well for a little over a year now with no issues. I hope this review may help someone else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What you need for protection This case is just great. Very simple in design and very well equipped to protect your gear. I've used foam cases before but the foam in the pelican is incredibly sturdy and can hold memory around the edges very well. This case is the only way to insure that your gear will make it with you on long journeys, weather it be in the trunk of a car or the cargo bay of an airplane. plus the foam cuts so well when form fitting odd shaped pieces into your case. Mine currently holds: EOS D-60 body, 18-135 lens, 50mm lens, Speed-light 430 EXII flash, small jvc camcorder, and a 4/10 plastic tote I use for extra gear (Memory cards, batteries, filters, etc.) For the price you can't beat it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbreakable. This case is practically indestructible like I stated in thetitle. I have dropped on the ground, down stairs, and insnow and absolutely no damage was done to my gear inside. Iam planning on going to Woodward this summer (askateboarding camp in PA) with my camera and I am quiteconfident that it will not get broken into there with acouple locks and a lock cable. I highly recommend it if youplan on having your gear at risk of getting stolen or if itsa place with extreme conditions where your gear might breakeasily inside of a soft case. Problems Encountered: It is somewhat difficult to slip larger locks through the holes. Items I Recommend: Two masterlocks (not very large ones), 7 foot kryptonite cable

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Case I got this case so that I can check items as baggage that I can't carry on board but require more protection than a duffel bag of clothing can provide. (For some items the TSA also requires that you transport them in a lockable hardsided container - this is perfect for this). It is fantastically well built, very solid. The hinges are well protected and the latches are strong. The foam interior is easy to 'pluck' the negative spaces that you need for your items.
