The General Brand 58mm Collapsible Rubber Lens Hood helps to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by shading the front element of the lens. Its collapsible, rubber design enables it to remain on your lens at all times without requiring much additional space and it also serves to protect the lens from accidental impact. This lens hood has a 58mm threaded screw-in design and is intended for use with normal focal lengths.

General Brand NP11058 reviews

58mm Collapsible Rubber Lens Hood is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 57.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from 58 mm Kalt Screw-in Rubber lens hood This is attached to a 70-300 mm zoom, and with all that glass and all those elements inside such zooms, a lens hood is essential to prevent flare, in my experience. I'd have preferred a metal hood, but this has the advantage of folding down while still attached so the lens fits better in the gadget bag, Plus it can be unfolded in sections so that -- on a wider optic -- it could be extended just enough top cover that particular field of view. Like other Kalt hoods this one is inexpensive and works as advertised. Will it last as long as the lens? Maybe not, but replacing it won't break the bank.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gets the job done I got this for my 50mm f/1.4 prime lens for my Canon Rebel T2i. It works and collapses nicely and I haven't taken it off since. The only complaint I have is that it looks a bit cheaply-made, with the rubber and plastic parts seeming to have been hastily glued together. In addition, the rubber hood is splotchy. These minor quibbles aside, however, I am quite pleased with this hood and would get more for other lenses as well as recommending it to other photographers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice little surprise! I was not sure about getting this Lens Hood, but the Canon Hard lens hood for the 50mm was out of stock and for the price $ I thought, why not try it. It was a little hard to get screwed in, but after that it does the job and I do like how it folds down when you are ready to store in your camera bag. I wish it was a true black color to match my camera instead of the black with like white stuff or something. However, for the price - I am satisfied with this Lens Hood. Will probably buy more for different lenses.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a bargain In a previous review, written a few days after receiving the lens, I said that I would recommend it. A couple of days after submitting the review, the lens tore at the fold. Spend a few extra bucks and get the metal one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not terrible for the price. Somewhat effective vs. flare, shows up in the picture at wider focal lengths (around 28-32mm), does not retain a circular shape. At least mine didn't. It looks oval. On the positive side, it's cheap, it's flexible, and it offers some protection for your lens. Great thing is that you can just fold it over on itself when you need to take a wide angle shot, so no need to remove it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very affordable addition to any camera I use this product on my Canon t2i for outdoor shooting. This is a very useful alternative to more expensive, brand name lens hoods. The folding rubber gets it out of your way when you don't need it. The price is spot on and it easily screws on to any 58mm standard lens. The ridges on the outside actually help for easier manual focusing.
