General Brand NP11067 overview

  • 1Description

The General Brand 67mm Collapsible Rubber Lens Hood helps to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by shading the front element of the lens. Its collapsible, rubber design enables it to remain on your lens at all times without requiring much additional space and it also serves to protect the lens from accidental impact. This lens hood has a 67mm threaded screw-in design and is intended for use with normal focal lengths.

General Brand NP11067 reviews

67mm Collapsible Rubber Lens Hood is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Functional, but poor construction It does its job well. The collapsible idea is really nice - saves a lot of room in a tight camera bag. The collapsing is smooth. The un-collapsing on the other hand is laborious: you have to work at it from all directions simultaneously, with a fair bit of strength, and if you do it wrong the rubber looks like it's going to detach itself from the threading. It is inexpensive though, so at the price I paid I can't complain.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Needs improvement The hood does the job when it is ON. Regrettably, it keeps falling OFF, just like the one I lost which I replaced with this one. The rubber part is not attached securely to the mounting ring.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ugly but functional I have a select few filters that I use for all my different lenses with step up rings. Since the included lens hoods wouldn't have worked, I needed another hood. In this configuration it works great on my lenses. I recommend putting the hood closest to the lens, and then add the filter if you have a wider angle lens. Not sure where the cutoff point is, but my 21mm needed the filter on last. This is the cheapest 67mm I could find at the time. When it is extended it is fairly sturdy. Enough that I can invert a small lens connected to it for a few moments while I attach a rear cap to the lens. It folds quickly/easily. One thing to keep in mind is the overall diameter is quite large. It only fits in one of my lens cases. But it fits fine in a pocket on my camera bag. It is kind of a light grey, and looks pretty bad. Also oils from just touching it make it look even worse. Overall I am happy with it. Pretty hard to beat the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works, mostly The hood works well, unless you have a filter on the camera. Using a UV, Polarizer, or ND filer between the lens and the hood, you still get lens flare, though obviously less than without the hood.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works OK except at 18mm I bought this to use with my Canon 18-135mm zoom lens. When extended, it interferes with the picture at 18mm focal length, causing the resulting picture to have a black circular frame. It works fine at higher focal lengths.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very handy - wouldn't do without it Collapsible lens hood remains on my lens all the time and does not have to be installed when the camera comes out of my bag and reversed when the camera goes back in the bag. It is much simpler to use than the standard hard lens hoods. Filters can be added or removed more easily than with a hard lens hood. The only negative feature is extremely slight vignetting at the corners with a zoom lens at 18 mm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy yet flexible. I currently use the lenshood on a medium format lens. I use older lenses because they are cheap, but that means they usually don't have hoods or caps. This hood is great because it pops out to provide shelter from sun glare and is soft enough to flex a little if I bump it accidentally.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly What I expected I bought this on the recommendation of someone else and have been very pleased with the purchase. It protects my lens and provides enough shade from the sun. Will purchase another soon for my other lens.
