The General Brand 72mm Collapsible Rubber Lens Hood helps to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by shading the front element of the lens. Its collapsible, rubber design enables it to remain on your lens at all times without requiring much additional space and it also serves to protect the lens from accidental impact. This lens hood has a 72mm threaded screw-in design and is intended for use with normal focal lengths.

72mm Collapsible Rubber Lens Hood is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Useful and inexpensive lens hood When I sought the advice of one of the sales associates, he suggested that I use this less expensive but good alternative to a 'hard hood'(which was temporarily out of stock). I've used the soft rubber hood for about 2 months and think it is great. It works like the hard hood, but allows me to store my camera in my purse-like bag by just pushing on the rubber and collapsing the hood. Now, I don't have to purchase a larger carrying bag, as my existing bag fits my current needs. If the hood is not needed while shooting photos, I just collapse it. Really good choice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it is supposed to do We use these on all our lenses in conjunction with our own design of mattebox. When extended the hood seals against the mattebox and retracted it makes a protective collar for the lens in storage. Complaints in some reviews that the hood vignettes are due to mis-application of this standard hood to wide angle lenses. If you are shooting wide lenses, use the wide hood.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not good with wide angle lens This product is well made enough for the price, however when I used it with my Raynox 6600 (.66 wide angle converter) on my Canon HV 20 camcorder the lens hood was visible in the corners at full wide (which isn't really all that wide--about equivalent to a 35 mm lens on a 35 mm camera). For this reason I cannot recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does the job. My primary use of a collapsible hood is at aquariums and museums when I want to photograph something behind glass. By putting the rubber hood against the glass, you eliminate any reflections and get nice clean shots on the other side of the glass.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from lens hood its great because it blocks the sun but then its horrble because it cuts out the corners of your shot. So unless you are looking for that kind of effect then you shouldn't get this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice shade but not for wide angle lenses. I like collapsible but found I couldn't use this on on my 17-35mm zoom; it vignetted at about 28mm and wider. I should have realized there's a good reason for the shape of the original shade. Very happy with this one on my other lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the Job as Advertised I bought these in several different thread sizes. Mainly to shoot through glass to reduce lens flare and reflections. Works well so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits the bill I like how it is soft enough to fold inside my gadget bag yet offers a level of protection to the lens & camera.
